Goodbye, Good Men: How Liberals Brought Corruption into the Catholic Church

Source

Book Description

Publication Date: May 1, 2002
Goodbye, Good Men provides the real story behind the sex scandal currently rocking the Catholic church. Investigative reporter Michael Rose has conducted countless interviews and exhaustive research to uncover several out-of-control seminaries as the root cause of the scandal.

While most pundits and critics are calling for liberalization of the Church in the wake of these scandals, Rose presents compelling evidence that liberal influence is the very cause of the crisis. The revelations in Goodbye, Good Men will shock the nation and ignite a firestorm of debate on the subject.

From Library Journal

Written shortly before the current scandal broke upon the Roman Catholic Church, Rose's book seems almost prophetic as he documents the systematic rejection of pious, orthodox seminary applicants in many dioceses and the encouragement of questionable attitudes and agendas.

Rose (Ugly As Sin), who was editor of St. Catherine Review for seven years, is the author of numerous articles, essays, and books that question the wisdom of contemporary liberal Catholicism. Here, he discusses the causes of the chronic priest shortage, including the misuse of psychological screening and what appears to be blatant discrimination against the kind of young men who were once considered ideal candidates for the vocation.

He gives a disturbing glimpse behind the scenes that may go far in explaining the church's present difficulties. Based primarily on interviews, the book is carefully footnoted and contains a bibliography of sources cited and consulted. Highly recommended for anyone interested in this prominent topic, and for public and academic libraries. C. Robert Nixon, MLS, Lafayette, IN

Media Bias Against Faith Reporting

Last month 43 Catholic institutions across America joined together to defend the First Amendment and filed a total of 12 lawsuits against the Administration in order to protect the right to freedom of religion on behalf of all Americans.

This is the most significant religious lawsuit in U.S. history and Christian leaders all across America have joined in support of the Catholic institutions. This lawsuit is not a single action by a few “out of touch religious leaders,” as the liberal national media would like to portray it.

In addition to 12 various lawsuits against the mandate with a total of 43 plaintiffs from religious hospitals, colleges and universities, and dioceses, the U.S. Catholic Bishops are preparing for the largest campaign of civil disobedience since the 1960’s during the civil rights movement.

Despite the unprecedented and historic nature of this event, the media have largely ignored it. Bias by omission has been a repetitive theme among the liberal national media and this obvious showing of bias is almost as scary as the Obama administration’s battle against religious freedom.

The print media have buried it in the back pages of the newspapers. The Washington Post, USA Today, and New York Times hardly gave the story coverage, with a few paragraphs in the back of the first section. The TV networks also swept the lawsuit under the rug. NBC and ABC completely omitted the newsworthy suit impacting almost all Americans directly. NBC did find time to air a story on comedian Kristin Wiig leaving the show Saturday Night Live and on the death of Eugene Polley, the inventor of the remote control. CBS shared the news of the lawsuit with their audience for roughly 20 seconds.

If the lawsuit is mentioned in the media at all, it is framed as an issue of a woman’s right to contraception. Despite what the liberal national media may believe, the American people are smart enough to figure out the truth. This is an issue much larger than birth control; it is about the fundamental right of all Americans to religious freedom and all the First Amendment Rights.

The Catholic institutions filed the lawsuit due to new Obamacare regulations that force religious institutions to pay for coverage of anti-abortion drugs, regardless of the employers’ religious and moral objections. The new regulation mandating that all religious employers must provide health care insurance plans that include sterilizations and all Food and Drug Administration-approved contraceptives (including those that can induce abortions) is an attack on the Constitution itself and the constitutional rights of all Americans.

How can the liberal media ignore 12 different lawsuits being filed in federal courts that each charge the Administration with violating the Church’s First Amendment right? The silence is deafening and seems to be deliberate.

The liberal national media continue to show their bias by their lack of coverage of this historical event.

Gay activist gets liberal judge to issue restraining order against MassResistance

Unbelievable: Convicted sex offender gets judge in Maine to issue restraining order against Brian Camenker of MassResistance -- for exposing offenses against kids at "gay youth" club!

Part of vicious new tactic by homosexual movement to silence critics.
The homosexual movement is now using local liberal judges to go after pro-family activists.

An adult homosexual activist convicted of sexually molesting a 14-year-old boy he met at a "gay youth" event got a judge in Maine to issue a bizarre legal restraining order against Brian Camenker of MassResistance regarding an exposé of those activities, even though Camenker lives in Massachusetts and had never had any contact with the man.

Right: Homosexual activist Adam Flanders in custody after arrest.

This seems to follow a new, disturbing strategy of the left to personally intimidate and even terrorize prominent conservatives they don't like. One recent example involves the "SWATing" of certain conservative bloggers. A "SWAT" is calling in a false report of a terrible shooting taking place at the home address of a conservative, resulting in a police SWAT team descending on the home and terrorizing the family. Closer to home, a far-left pro-homosexual group has filed a lawsuit against Pastor Scott Lively for international "crimes against humanity."

MassResistance becomes a target

In 2007, Adam Flanders, a well-known Maine homosexual activist, distributed a public letter he had written himself, exposing the horrific activities of the "gay youth club" in his area and describing his own sexual activities with under-age boys there. But recently, Flanders was angry that MassResistance refused his demand to take down the letter from our website, after he had a change of heart about exposing those activities.

So Flanders filed a complaint in Belfast Maine District Court claiming the posting constituted personal "harassment" against him. In an unbelievable and outrageous turn of events, the District Court judge agreed with him and has issued a legal restraining order against Camenker, as executive director of MassResistance.

The judge also refused to hear Camenker's testimony on his own behalf on the blatant untruths in Flanders' court complaint. And although parts of the Flanders' letter are still also posted on a local newspaper website, the judge did not take that into consideration either.

Flanders posted this photo of himself on the Internet.

2007: Incredibly incriminating public letter -- exposing 'gay youth' clubs

In January 2007, Flanders -- at the time a 20-year-old homosexual activist -- wrote a shocking letter about the outrageous abuses going on between adults and kids in the local homosexual youth club, "OUT! . . . As I Want to Be," a non-profit group for kids with adult "advisors."

Flanders sent copies of the letter to two local police departments, other government agencies, the local news media, and various pro-family groups (including the Christian Civic League of Maine). The local news site Maine Today still has its article posted, with excerpts from the letter. The letter was also posted on the MassResistance website.

In the letter, Flanders talks about:

  • Sexual relations he had with two 14-year-old boys during group-related activities.
  • Sexual relations between older men and kids, and between youth members.
  • Drug and alcohol abuse by adults and youths.
  • An adult director who told stories to the youth about man-boy love and pedophilia at the group meetings.
  • Frequent suicide threats and attempts, which Flanders said became "a common part of our organization."
  • How the group "hands out condoms and lubricant like candy" to the youth.

Flanders concludes the letter saying: "It is my hope that the Bureau of Health will do everything in their power to seriously investigate this seemingly innocent organization that has such a dark past full of negligence, irresponsibility, sexual harassment, abuse, and ultimately emotional harm that could leave permanent scars in the lives of many vulnerable youth in Maine, or even destroy their lives completely."

It's what MassResistance has been warning about for years

This letter was a disturbing exposé of what we have been warning about for years. From everything we've seen, our belief is that this is more the rule than the exception. A number of similar "gay youth" clubs are operating across Massachusetts (funded with taxpayer money) and in other states around the country -- with radical, hardcore homosexual and transgender activists "mentoring" vulnerable kids as young as middle-school age. And all the warning signs have been there for a long time. (Several homosexual volunteers for "gay youth" activities in Massachusetts have been convicted of sex crimes.)

Why did Flanders write this letter, distribute it widely, and then continue having sex with young boys? We don't know for sure. But we've long observed that adult homosexuals fixated on schoolchildren are attracted to these "youth clubs" and likely continue pursuing the youths in other venues.

The following year -- Flanders convicted of sexual abuse of a minor

The following year, in July 2008, Flanders was convicted of the sexual abuse of a minor. His profile on the Maine Sex Offender Registry describes the offense as "Engage in a sexual act with another person, not the actor's spouse, who is either 14 or 15 years of age and the actor is at least 5 years older than the other person." (He had a criminal history record going back to 2006, which also includes "violating condition of release.") We've been told by people in Maine who followed this that the minor is one of the boys Flanders describes in his 2007 letter.

Angry demands to take down the posting -- and threats of legal action

At some point Flanders apparently had second thoughts about exposing the horrors of the homosexual movement's activities with children so explicitly. So he decided to threaten the pro-family groups that still had it posted, to get them to take it down.

Starting in August, 2011 Flanders started sending a series of hostile emails to MassResistance saying that the letter he wrote and distributed nearly five years earlier actually constitutes "private and confidential information" that "nobody had a right to publish." He threatened legal action if we did not immediately take it down from our website. He sent similar communications to the other pro-family sites that had the letter posted, including the Christian Civic League of Maine.

All of them backed down and removed it -- except MassResistance!

We were advised by a lawyer that Flanders had no legal basis for his demands. But more important, we knew that by caving into his threats we were playing into the hands of the homosexual activists who do not want the public to know what really goes on in these "gay youth" groups.

Flanders continued to send MassResistance angry emails over the next few months, threatening a wide range of legal actions. He also threatened to set government agencies on us. He told us that we could expect him to have "the assistance of GLBT advocacy organizations in Maine and/or Massachusetts" in these endeavors.

MassResistance answered his emails only once, simply to say: "We have been advised that the postings on our website to which you refer are not illegal." That was the only time we've communicated with him in any way. But it did not deter him in the least.

Flanders files fraudulent complaint against Camenker in Maine court

After MassResistance refused to remove the letter, Flanders, apparently in consultation with local homosexual groups, decided to use the tactic of going after Brian Camenker personally using the Maine restraining order statutes. He filed a formal "Complaint for Protection from Harassment" action restraining order against Camenker in the Belfast Maine District Court.

The District Courthouse in Belfast, Maine.

It was a complete abuse of the process and intent of harassment and restraining orders. Camenker had never met, seen, spoken to, visited, or communicated with Flanders. The organization MassResistance had simply posted a document which Flanders had written himself and distributed publicly. And it was posted nearly five years earlier.

Flanders' complaint was made up of absurd lies and dishonesties (typical of the way the homosexual movement goes after people):

  • On the official document, Flanders checked off that his complaint against Camenker involves "domestic or dating violence, sexual assault, or stalking."
  • He additionally checked off that he wants the court to order Camenker to: (a) stop harassing him; (b) have no contact with him; (c) not enter his residence; (d) refrain from repeatedly, and without reasonable cause, following him or being at, or in the vicinity of, his home, school, business or place of employment; (e) refrain from interfering with his property; and (f) pay his attorney's fees and court costs, and order any other necessary and proper relief.
  • He added the following misleading statement as his "Basis for Claim" :

"In 2007 MassResistance published information about me on their website. This included criminal investigatory information and private information about me and other private citizens, including graphic sexual information about minors ... I believe the actions of MassResistance constitute stalking because it has caused me serious emotional distress. It also violates the privacy of me and many others ... The posting was obviously made with malice. The title reads, Letter from gay 'adult/youth' group member in Maine reveals homosexual sex with kids as young as 14 at meetings. Also drugs, alcohol, suicide threats, more. An extremely sad and troubling story. The grave danger of 'gay clubs' in your schools."
  • Interestingly, the complaint also included the first page of his letter as posted on the MassResistance website -- which made it clear that Flanders himself had written it.

Read Flanders' harassment complaint against Camenker HERE

After the complaint was filed, Flanders and his cohorts hired a process server in Massachusetts to go in person to Camenker's house with it late one night.

Maine lawyer's opinion: A clearly absurd complaint

Camenker forwarded the documentation to a pro-family lawyer in Maine, and spoke with him about it. He was pretty surprised that anything like that would even be allowed, and that any judge ought to just throw it out.

Several things stood right out, in his opinion. Among them: (1) There are serious jurisdictional issues. He'd never heard of a Maine restraining order against a person or organization from out of state that did not also have any presence in Maine. (2) It is a clear abuse of process. What Flanders is claiming is not harassment or stalking by any possible definition, especially since it was presented as a public document and has been posted for nearly five years. (3) Flanders should be charged with filing a false report. He is making wild claims about Camenker that are purposefully and blatantly untrue. (4) There is also a huge First Amendment issue. Could any media outlet or any website that similarly posted Flanders' public letter be charged with harassment? These kinds of things are in fact reported on and written about all the time. The whole thing was absurd and contrary to any concept of justice.

Maine's esteemed district court judges.

The hearing: Hostile judge refuses to hear Camenker's testimony

The hearing on the complaint was scheduled for November 14, 2011 in Belfast, Maine before District Judge Patricia G. Worth.

Belfast is over five hours away from the MassResistance office in Massachusetts. But suppose Camenker and MassResistance were in California or another distant state? Are the "defendants" required to appear in person? We called the Belfast District Court and spoke with two people in the Clerk's office. Both of them said that due to the distance we could have a "telephone conference" hearing if we requested it in writing. Camenker submitted a letter of request to the court and it was accepted. (He was notified by phone.)

At the appointed hearing time Camenker called the courthouse and was connected to Judge Worth. She was openly hostile. Camenker first asked about the jurisdiction issue, since neither he nor MassResistance had any presence in Maine. She said she would consider that.

But then as Camenker began to bring up the other points, the Judge stopped him and said she would not accept anything else from him over the phone. But what about the "conference hearing" the court agreed to? It didn't matter, she said. The conference was now over. She wasn't accepting any testimony at all over the phone. Camenker asked if he could submit a statement in writing. No, she said, you have to be here in person -- today. "But that's not what I was told by your clerks," Camenker said. That's the way it is, she answered, and ended the call. The tone of her voice was as abrupt as the conversation. We've watched many court proceedings and never saw anything quite like this.

Judge sides with homosexual activist. Issues restraining order against Camenker!

About a week later, Camenker phoned the courthouse for the "verdict." The Clerk's office said they would not tell him, but that he would have the paperwork delivered to him.

About a month later he received the official "Order of Protection from Harassment" by the State of Maine against him. Judge Worth ruled that "the plaintiff was harassed by the defendant" and she ordered a list of absurd restraining conditions -- which included not contacting, visiting, interfering, following, or destroying property of the defendant -- none of which Camenker had ever done in the past. The judge also, obviously, ruled that her Maine court had jurisdiction in Massachusetts.

See the judge's restraining order against Camenker HERE

Interestingly, the judge did NOT order that our posting of Flanders' letter be taken down. (And of course, we have it up.) So what's going on? It appears that the primary purpose of this was not to "protect" Flanders, but to "punish" Camenker personally for his willingness to confront the homosexual lobby, and his obvious "bigotry." Think about all the ways a restraining order on public record with that list of restraining conditions can affect a person. Whether or not it is completely fraudulent has no bearing.

By reading the complaint, the Judge Worth obviously could see that Flanders had written the letter himself and had presented it as a public document. But as with many liberal judges, she appears to have been far more swayed by the homosexual movement than by justice. Her unusually hostile demeanor certainly indicated that.

Will we be seeing more of this odious tactic against pro-family citizens? Absolutely. And in particular, as the "gay marriage" movement starts to regain ground in Maine, you can expect this will just be the beginning.

Does this outrage you? Is this an offensive way for a judge to act? You can contact Judge Patricia G. Worth's Belfast District Court HERE or HERE.

Further threats from Flanders (with his homosexual activist allies)

Since the restraining order, Flanders has continued to send emails to Camenker at MassResistance with further threats.

He has said he (and his well-funded supporters in homosexual activist groups) are preparing to attempt to have Camenker criminally prosecuted in Massachusetts under various "hate crime" statutes. He has also said that he is contacting businesses and others that MassResistance interacts with in our normal operations, to attempt to "shut us down." As mentioned above, this tactic is becoming more common by the homosexual movement against those they are determined to silence.

We're not caving in

We believe that we must not cave in to this. Informing people of the truth is far more important.

We've been through this before. Many of you will recall the hideous "Fistgate" incident in 2000, which we uncovered and publicized. We were subsequently sued by two different homosexual activists organizations, demanding we take down and destroy the "Fistgate tapes" (which graphically exposed their horrible activities with children), and they also sought monetary damages. It was a terrible experience. But we prevailed. The tapes are still posted here.

Media Manipulation – Political Correctness and Cultural Marxism Exposed

Source

Kyle Rogers from Examiner.Com deserves major credit for having the fortitude and courage to track, investigate, research and write about something the media refuses to discuss. Hate Crimes. Specifically, Black Hate Crimes. Kyle even assembles an interactive map of the known hate crimes from the month of May. This is a must read for any Truth Seeker willing to confront the rabid and insufferable culture of political correctness.

Over the past couple years major media bosses have publicly admitted to censoring black crime. Editors from the LA Times, Chicago Tribune, Washington Post, New York Times, and the Associated Press have all publicly confessed to censoring black crime. Recently I’ve personally been able to obtain statements from two media outlets admitting they have a policy of censoring black crime. This includes the Newark Star-Ledger and WYFF, the Greenville, SC NBC affiliate.

This censorship is all about politicizing the news. In 2007 the LA Times made an official statement saying that accurately reporting crime would “unfairly stigmatize racial groups.” In other words, politically correctness trumps public safety. This censorship is most blatant when the crime involves a black perpetrator and a white victim. Especially if racial hatred was a motive.

Since the media frenzy over Trayvon Martin, there have been a few sizable public scandals over the censorship of black on white crime. A few major media outlets have discussed the censorship of black on white crime including World Net Daily, The Blaze, Daily Caller, Rush Limbaugh, and Bill O’Reilly. However, as I am about to show you, the censorship has not slowed down.

for an interactive map CLICK HERE

The month of May appears to have been a particularly bad month for black on white crime. The most shocking examples are two major crimes committed in foreign countries by black American’s working overseas.

A white Irish tourist was murdered after attending an American rap concert in Japan. Two black Americans working for the tour have been arrested. James Blackston, the main suspect, is a backup dancer for Nicki Minaj. An employee of the tour videotaped the backup dancer menacing elderly Japanese people on a train the day before the concert. The murder was a major news story in Japan and Ireland, but not the United States.

Four days after the murder in Japan, black members of the US Airforce participated in a racial mob attack on some white Australian soldiers outside a bar in Sydney. Video shows seven or more black men assaulting three white men. One of the attackers is using his belt as a whip. Two of the perps were arrested at the scene and discovered to be members of the US Airforce.

It seems that black on white crime is so widespread and common that the US is actually exporting it to foreign countries.

Two particularly heinous public murders occurred in London, England. On May 20th, a large black mob viciously attacked a father and son at random in a crowded area. The son was beaten to death. On May 9th, a black mob pursued a white family as they left a tavern. The father was stabbed to death in front of his daughter on her birthday. In both cases, there is no doubt that racial hatred was the sole motivation for the murders. Racially motivated violence against white people is not limited to the United States. It is common in Britain and Western Europe as well.

I found numerous black on white murders that occurred during the month of May, where little if anything was stolen. In each case, the murder was a thrill killing in which the victim was probably targeted because they were white.

In Dallas, TX, Portland, OR, and Santa Cruz, CA, very attractive white females were stabbed to death in public places by black males. All three were random. In Schereville, IL another very attractive white female was attacked at random and strangled to death right in front of her apartment. In Jonestown, MS, a rural all black village, a white nun was the victim of a near fatal stabbing. She had been helping the local black community for decades and someone stabbed her for the fun of it.

In Atlantic City, NJ a black female fatally stabbed two Asian women in a thrill killing. She laughed about the killings in court.

In northwestern Mississippi, a black suspect was arrested for murdering two whites at random. Police believe the suspect would have continued killing more white people if he not been caught. If the races had been reversed, this would have been a major national news story. Instead it was just a local Mississippi story.

When an American Indian and a white accomplice killed three blacks in Tulsa, it was the biggest news story in the entire Western world. I talked to one woman who watched it on the news in Finland. Ask yourself why the racially motivated killings of two white people by a black man is only a minor local story.

There was a particularly cruel attempted murder in Garland, TX that would have been the biggest news story in the North America had the races been reversed. A black man robbed a gas station. After getting the money, he doused the 76 year old white female clerk with gasoline and set her fire. The woman was horrifically burned and almost died. The perp torched her purely for the fun of it. The media aggressively censored this heinous crime. It only received minor local coverage and most outlets censored the race of the victim.

Young white males were shot and killed, at random while sitting in their cars, by black males in Kannapolis, NC and St. Louis, MO. In Kansas City, MO a sixty year old white man was shot at random, while jogging, by two black male suspects. Another young white man asked a black man for directions near Atlanta, Georgia. Police say the black man shot and killed him for the fun of it. Another US soldier was killed at random by two black suspects near Fort Campbell, KY.

In Smyrna, GA a white Marine Corps veteran was invited to an all black party by a co-worker. After he got there, he was chased out and beaten to death by a black mob. If the races had been reversed, this would be made of tv movie material. Instead it was only a tiny blip in the local news.

The month of May also saw widespread racially motivated mob attacks against white people. Baltimore, Newark, and New York City saw multiple attacks each. There were also mob attacks in Denver, CO, Coral Springs, FL, Sacramento, CA, Tampa Bay, FL, and Saint Louis, MO.

You can rest assured that many more violent black on white crimes occurred in the month of May that were not mentioned in this article. Ask yourself how many of these victims would have received national media attention if they were black and the perpetrator was white?

It is time to put real pressure on the so-called “mainstream” media to accurately report crime. US Attorney General Eric Holder says that white people who won’t talk about race are “cowards.” So let’s give Holder what he wants and start speaking up. (visit article)

Not Supposed To Happen: Dems Are Leaving The Party Over Social Issues

Oh no! The narrative has been violated!

The lamestream media, in its attempt to prop up the Democratics as much as possible, frequently "reports" that the Republican Party is just too "extreme".

And by "extreme", they mean that the party caters to the religious right by opposing abortion and gay marriage.

And, as a result of this "extremism", people are reluctant to identify themselves as Republicans. And some even leave the party.

But now we get a report of people leaving the Democratic Party precisely because of its extremism.

Hey, who would have ever thought the publicly supporting gay marriage, while disregarding Biblical commandments strongly condemning homosexuality, might somehow alienate Bible-belt Democrats?

And who knew that telling Catholic employers that they must offer insurance plans that cover abortion-inducing drugs might somehow irritate Catholic people and cause them to leave the party?

Mandating coverage for abortion-inducing drugs? Yeah, that's extreme.

But the barking moonbats in the lamestream media would have you believe that the Republicans are extreme.

The fact of the matter is this: The "family values" crowd is the mainstream.

But we're pretty happy that the Democrats haven't figured that out yet.

Because it will cost them votes.

Obama’s $529 Green Loan to Finnish Company That Made $100,000 Cars Is Linked to Al Gore

The Obama Administration gave $529 million in loans to a car company in Finland that made $100,000 lemons.

Now the company is in financial trouble and the cars are burning down garages. Oh… And the green company is linked to Al Gore.

Fisker Karma – Another Green Lemon

In 2009 the Obama Administration gave a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland. The company was promoted by Al Gore.
The Wall Street Journal reported on this curious investment:

A tiny car company backed by former Vice President Al Gore has just gotten a $529 million U.S. government loan to help build a hybrid sports car in Finland that will sell for about $89,000.

The award this week to California startup Fisker Automotive Inc. follows a $465 million government loan to Tesla Motors Inc., purveyors of a $109,000 British-built electric Roadster. Tesla is a California startup focusing on all-electric vehicles, with a number of celebrity endorsements that is backed by investors that have contributed to Democratic campaigns.

The awards to Fisker and Tesla have prompted concern from companies that have had their bids for loans rejected, and criticism from groups that question why vehicles aimed at the wealthiest customers are getting loans subsidized by taxpayers.

“This is not for average Americans,” said Leslie Paige, a spokeswoman for Citizens Against Government Waste, an anti-tax group in Washington. “This is for people to put something in their driveway that is a conversation piece. It’s status symbol thing.”

DOE officials spent months working with Fisker on its application, touring its Irvine, Calif., and Pontiac, Mich., facilities and test-driving prototypes.

Matt Rogers, who oversees the department’s loan programs as a senior adviser to Energy Secretary Steven Chu, said Fisker was awarded the loan after a “detailed technical review” that concluded the company could eventually deliver a highly fuel-efficient hybrid car to a mass audience.

Now the company is in financial trouble and the cars are burning down garages.
The Daily Caller reported:

Fisker Automotive isn’t the next Solyndra — it’s worse.

Nearly $200 million into a $529 million loan from the Department of Energy, Fisker’s yet to build a car in the United States. The current model they offer, the Karma, retails for a reasonable $103,000. And here’s the fun part. The Karma, produced in Finland, first suffered a recall in December. That recall expanded recently — in no small part due to a Karma in Texas lighting on fire and burning down the garage where it was parked. It appears that not only are these not American cars, but they’re not even particularly safe for American drivers. But don’t fret.

It was only a cool $200 million down the drain.

And, of course, no one will ever be held accountable for this green scandal. And liberals are laughing all the way to the bank.

Good question

NYT’s Paul Krugman Forgets To Take His Meds, Declares This Is A “Republican Economy”

Source

Expect any less from an Obama bootlicker?

This Republican Economy — Paul Krugman, NY Times

What should be done about the economy? Republicans claim to have the answer: slash spending and cut taxes. What they hope voters won’t notice is that that’s precisely the policy we’ve been following the past couple of years. Never mind the Democrat in the White House; for all practical purposes, this is already the economic policy of Republican dreams.

So the Republican electoral strategy is, in effect, a gigantic con game: it depends on convincing voters that the bad economy is the result of big-spending policies that President Obama hasn’t followed (in large part because the G.O.P. wouldn’t let him), and that our woes can be cured by pursuing more of the same policies that have already failed.

For some reason, however, neither the press nor Mr. Obama’s political team has done a very good job of exposing the con.

What do I mean by saying that this is already a Republican economy? Look first at total government spending — federal, state and local. Adjusted for population growth and inflation, such spending has recently been falling at a rate not seen since the demobilization that followed the Korean War.

Romney's stealth appearance at Solyndra

Source

Finding himself unable to run on his record, Candidate Obama tries to snuggle up to various voting groups. But being Obama, he can't keep his ego from jumping into things. So he doesn't pretend to be a mere friend of Jews; he has to ludicrously hold himself up as an expert on Judaism. And he can't humbly honor American military service members who died in Viet Nam. He has to superimpose his glorious self over their sacrifice. Behold the White House photo of the day on Memorial Day:

Ed Morrissey:
The takeaway image of Memorial Day for the Obama White House is the silhouette of non-veteran Obama on a memorial to war dead, complete with glowing halo around his head? Oooooooooo-keedokee.
Today's jobs numbers can only increase his desperation. Philip Klein calls them a train wreck:
The U.S. economy added just 69,000 jobs in May, well below expectations of 150,000 job gains, according to a report by the Bureau of Labor Statistics. . . .
The awful numbers, coming on top of a downward revision in first quarter economic growth to 1.9 percent, make President Obama's reelection campaign a lot more difficult and play right into the hands of Mitt Romney's economic message.
In case you missed it, here's Romney's stealth appearance at Solyndra:

It’s a symbol not of success but of failure,” he said. “It’s also a symbol of a serious conflict of interest. An independent inspector general looked at this investment and concluded that the administration had steered money to friends and family – to campaign contributors. This building, this half a billion dollar taxpayer investment, represents a serious conflict of interest on the part of the president and his team.”

“It’s also a symbol of how the president thinks about free enterprise,” said Romney. “Free enterprise to the president means taking money from the taxpayers and giving it freely to his friends.”

“I’m afraid the reason that the stimulus has been unsuccessful, that the turnaround has taken so long to occur, that the recovery has been tepid, is that the president fails to understand the basic nature of free enterprise in America.”

I also note how damaging a decision like this is for free enterprise generally. What you’re saying to other inventors, to other entrepreneurs, particularly in the solar space, is that the best way to get ahead is not with the best ideas and the best technology and the best people and the best marketing, but instead with the best lobbyists. That is not the nature of how America works.
It shouldn't be. Another important point:
You realize that if the business had done spectacularly well the shareholders, his friends, would have done very very well, but the taxpayers would have just gotten their money back. On the other hand, of course, if the business failed, as it did, its the taxpayers that get stuck with losing a half a billion dollars. So its heads and his cronies win, and tails and the taxpayers lose.
Bingo. It's bad business, bad for individuals and for the economy, and corrupt to boot. This may be Mitt at his best, speaking with clarity and authority on the vitally important issue of free enterprise, and thereby highlighting the contrast between himself and his opponent. Watch the Romney campaign's related ad here. *Edited to link to a second ad, here. One detail not mentioned in either:
CBO Report Estimates Obama’s Stimulus Could Have Cost Over $4 Million Per Job
Read that again. $4 million per job. That's an astounding failure. In a sane world that number alone would be enough to disqualify Obama from further public "service." But in the real world he's still in the running and planning to appear at a record SIX fundraisers today. (Hope he saves some strength for his usual five hours of weekend golf.)

The Failure of Occupy Wall Street

Source

2012-05-31-Occupy2.jpg

For those who are objective and unemotional it was easy to see this coming. The Occupy "movement" (and I use that term generously) has spiraled into irrelevance and relative obscurity. And it's a shame, as much of its message had broad resonance which could've been harnessed into significant power and influence in Washington. Instead, it became a whole lotta nuthin' over nuthin.'

So what went wrong?:

1. The "Occupy" Factor: Successful protest movements aren't about occupation, per se. This movement was too tied to its home base, a small symbolic tent-city near Wall Street, and in other similar parks in Boston, San Francisco and other cities. In order to rally scalable national support people needed to see marchers taking to the streets rather than largely hanging out in a park, which served, rightly or wrongly, to portray the Zuccotti Park inhabitants as drifters, vagrants and freeloaders rather than committed protesters. Much of the attention was not over its message but over the communal aspect of park life. Successful protest movements aren't about camping out, book sharing, eating, and "talking to each other," as one organizer told me. As a friend of mine joked, Zuccotti looked more like Bonnaroo. It confined and defined the message in a way that was limited and negative.

2. No Leadership: Every successful protest movement needs a leader; a strong, passionate, articulate, visible face and voice of the movement. (See Ghandi, Martin Luther King Jr., Lech Wałęsa, etc)

3. The Wrong Message: While I understood and agreed with much of what this movement was about, I think it took a deadly turn when it essentially turned into a "rich bad/poor good" theme. That wholesale indictment of everyone in the "1%" (including passionate, dedicated, extremely generous liberals like George Soros, Warren Buffett, Bill Gates and the Kennedys) was the wrong message. The mission shouldn't have been class warfare, but equality and fairness for all through reasonable government regulation and taxation.

4. No Agenda: While the organizers prided themselves on the fact that they had no real agenda other than to vent the nation's collective anger over the economic divide and injustices on Wall Street, this lack of clear, stated demands was a huge mistake. It should've taken a lesson from the Tea Party movement, which was and remains powerful, articulate and clear in its demands and which sent 63 congressmen to Washington in an election year to advocate and legislate its small government, less taxes agenda.

And that last point is the real shame of it all. In an election year as significant as this one, the Occupy movement is as good as dead. It will have achieved nothing legislatively, it will have elected no one and, in the end, it has had no material impact on American life. Nothing, that is, if you measure it against all other successful protest movements.

Obama’s abortion, marriage views inspire dozens of Democratic politicians to join the GOP

JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI, May 31, 2012, (LifeSiteNews.com) – Five months ahead of the presidential election, the Democratic Party is already losing seats to Republicans, as a growing number of elected officials are changing parties over issues like the right to life, the definition of marriage, and the Obama administration’s mandate that religious institutions cover abortion-inducing drugs in their health care plans.

Wednesday afternoon, seven local office-holders from three Mississippi counties announced they had voted with their feet.

Each official had different reasons, but Leake County Sheriff Greg Waggoner “specifically said when [Obama] came out in favor of gay ‘marriage,’ that was the last straw,” Brett Kittredge, communications director of the Mississippi Republican Party, told LifeSiteNews.com.

I’m a Christian, and my first allegiance is to Jesus Christ,” Sheriff Waggoner said. “God established marriage, and He established it between a man and a woman. Those are my beliefs. The Republican Party reflects my beliefs.

His concerns echoed those of Pennsylvania Democrat-turned-Republican Jo Ann Nardelli. A lifelong Democrat, Nardelli has been active as a pro-life Democrat at the state and local level. As Matthew Archbold wrote, “She met with Hillary Clinton, gave a rosary to Joe Biden, and appeared on the cover of U.S. News and World Report going to Church with then Senate candidate Bob Casey Jr.”

But after seeing Vice President Joe Biden, who is Roman Catholic, endorse same-sex “marriage,” she said she could no longer stand by the party. “I talked to our priest,” she said. Soon she penned a resignation letter citing the party’s conflict with Catholic teaching.

“Due to personal matters and faith beliefs at this time, it is only fair to resign,” she wrote. “It is time to move forward with my life in a direction that is more in line with my faith.” At a press conference, she endorsed Mitt Romney, then switched parties.

Click “like” if you want to defend true marriage.

State and local officials are not only ones to defect from an increasingly left-wing party. Former Alabama Congressman Artur Davis, an early Obama supporter who ran for governor in 2010, hinted on Tuesday that he may run for office in his new home state of Virginia. “If I were to run, it would be as a Republican,” he wrote.

“[F]aith institutions should not be compelled to violate their teachings because faith is a freedom, too,” he wrote on his blog, which he refers to as “free opposition research.”

He jabbed the administration for plunging “headfirst into a fight over contraception and Catholic hospitals” in February. “The Ninth Circuit’s ruling on gay marriage prefigures a Supreme Court ruling on the issue…a brief against big government has to also address the overreach of Washington’s pronouncing church doctrine dead.”

A Democrat who voted against the president’s health care reform, Davis said he still thinks the bill “goes further than we need and costs more than we can bear.” Entitlement reform and fiscal discipline play a role in his change of party.

Davis, who is black, also chafed at the president’s “bloc by bloc appeal to group grievances when the country is already too fractured.” He has said he “despises identity politics” and calls Affirmative Action “a racial spoils system.”

That multi-pronged objection shows that many Democrats do not object to Obama but to liberalism, a problem that often sinks down to the state and local party level.

In April, Rick Murphrey, the mayor of Kings Mountain in North Carolina and a lifelong Democrat, changed party registration to the GOP based in part on the state’s constitutional amendment banning same-sex “marriage.” Governor Bev Perdue, a Democrat, opposed Amendment One. Murphrey said that “is one of the things” he and his wife “evaluated in our decision.”

“We believe in the marriage of one man and one woman,” Murphrey said. “That is something we believe in strongly.”

New party members sometimes become active leaders in the pro-life cause. Ohio State Representative Doug McKillip of Athens – who accepted a $500 donation from Planned Parenthood in 2006 as a Democrat – introduced a bill to limit abortions to the first 20 weeks of pregnancy earlier this year.

McKillip credits his faith with his party change. “I became a Christian in ’09,” he said. “You start reading the Bible, and you realize life begins at conception.”

In March, Texas State Representative J.M. Lozano said he was tired of being “bullied” by Democrats. Like his constituents in Jim Wells County, he cherished “pro-life, pro-business” sentiments in “my heart and my soul.”

Lozano, McKillip, Waggoner, and others join a growing exodus of centrist or right-leaning former Democrats. Two dozen state officials changed registration from Democrat to Republican in the first three months after the 2010 midterm elections.

Kittrege estimates that more than 50 Democrats in Mississippi have joined the Republican Party since January 2009.

“They cannot be affiliated any longer with the Democratic Party because of the Obama administration, and all the leaders of the Democratic Party – Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, on down the line,” Kittredge told LifeSiteNews.com.

“There is no center-right in the Democratic Party,” Davis explained to Fox host Neil Cavuto. “There is in the Republican Party.”

In response, some Democrats are asking for a less liberal abortion plank in the 2012 Democratic Party platform. Former President Jimmy Carter has publicly stated party leaders should “limit [abortion] only to women whose life are in danger or who are pregnant as a result of rape or incest.” Rev. Patrick Mahoney, Director of the Christian Defense Coalition, promises pro-lifers will lead a public witness at the convention.

Dr. Richard Land, president of the Southern Baptist Convention’s Ethics & Religious Liberty Commission, told LifeSiteNews.com that abortion “is killing the Democrats in the South. Jimmy understands this. He understands the reason they lost the South is not the civil rights movement; it’s the abortion movement.”

Increasingly, it is also the marriage redefinition movement. Yet four former party chairmen and 11 state parties have called for the Democratic Party to include support for same-sex “marriage” in the party platform this summer during their convention in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The ongoing defections show many are giving up on efforts to carve out a pro-life, pro-marriage niche in the party of Jefferson and Jackson. I thought I could make a difference to change our party,” Nardelli said. “It didn’t work.

The national Democratic Party, and to a certain extent the Mississippi Democratic Party, has made it easier for us,” Kittredge told LifeSiteNews. “They almost do the work for us.

Obama’s Death Camp Blunder Leaves Poland Outraged

By: Rachel Pulaski

On September 1, 1939 Adolf Hitler ordered Germany to invade Poland. Hilter established over 400 death and concentration camps in Poland including Auschwitz where the first gas chamber was installed. Over 6 million Polish citizens including 3 million Polish Jews were killed during WWII.

On Tuesday President Obama held a ceremony honoring 13 Medal of Freedom recipients including Jan Karski, a resistance freedom fighter who fought against the Nazi occupation in Poland. While honoring Karski the President shocked Poles all over the world by referring to the Nazi death camps in Poland as “Polish Death Camps”. CBS News reported:

During an East Room ceremony honoring 13 Medal of Freedom recipients, Obama said that Karski “served as a courier for the Polish resistance during the darkest days of World War II. Before one trip across enemy lines, resistance fighters told him that Jews were being murdered on a massive scale and smuggled him into the Warsaw Ghetto and a Polish death camp to see for himself. Jan took that information to President Franklin Roosevelt, giving one of the first accounts of the Holocaust and imploring to the world to take action.” (Watch video of the event at left)

Sikorski tweeted that the White House should apologize for “this outrageous error” and that Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk would address the matter on Wednesday. “It’s a pity that such a dignified ceremony was overshadowed by ignorance and incompetence.”

Alex Storozynski, president of the Kosciuszko Foundation, said Obama’s comment “shocked the Poles present at the White House and those watching on C-SPAN. … Karski would have cringed if he heard this.”

National Security Council spokesman Tommy Vietor said: “The president misspoke. He was referring to Nazi death camps in Poland. We regret this misstatement, which should not detract from the clear intention to honor Mr. Karski and those brave citizens who stood on the side of human dignity in the face of tyranny.”

Fox News reported on Poland’s reaction:

Donald Tusk said he was accepting a White House explanation that Obama misspoke but was still waiting for a “stronger, more pointed reaction” that could eliminate the phrasing “once and for all.” Tusk said it was a “matter of the U.S.’s reputation.” He hinted it should include facts about Nazi Germany’s brutal occupation of Poland.

This is not the first time Poland has received a slap in the face by this administration. In 2009 Obama denied a missile defense shield for Poland after Russia threatened military action.
The Poles were great allies to the US in Iraq and Afghanistan. Maybe that’s why he hates them?

Gallup Poll: Romney Holds Whopping 28-Point Lead Over Obama Among Male Veterans

Source

It’s almost like the military isn’t fond of the Commander-in-Chief.

Via The Hill:

A new Gallup poll released on Memorial Day shows male veterans breaking strongly for Mitt Romney over President Obama.

The presumptive GOP nominee receives support from 58 percent of veteran registered voters surveyed to Obama’s 34 percent. Among non-veterans though, Obama holds a four point edge, with 48 percent to Romney’s 44.

Gallup says veterans make up 13 percent of the U.S. population.

The breakdown of the veteran vote also mirrors the gender gap seen among all voters and male voters are seen giving Romney a solid block of support. Romney has the backing of 60 percent of male veterans to Obama’s 32.

Is Regents of the University of California v. Bakke, a 1978 case rejecting academic racial quotas, the smoking gun behind Obama’s Kenyan identity?

Barack Obama has kept carefully hidden all of his college records. Many of us have assumed that this secrecy is because those papers show that he took nothing but Leftist Mickey Mouse classes and ended up with lousy grades.

Now that we know that Obama marketed himself to publishers as a Kenyan, though, we’re beginning to suspect that the papers hide, not only academic mediocrity, but the same Kenyan identity Obama was using to market himself in the publishing world. The question, of course, is why would Obama pretend to be African? After all, when it came to college admissions, wasn’t being black good enough for affirmative action purposes?

Normally, in the years since the Civil Rights movement, the answer would be “Yes, being half-black (not half-white, but half-black) should have given Obama the leg-up he needed to parlay mediocre grades and a drug habit into a shiny diploma from one of America’s best institutions of higher education.” Obama’s problem, though, was that he came of age at a very specific time in the annals of affirmative action. To appreciate this, you have to know that Obama, who graduated from high school in 1979, must have started looking at colleges in 1978.

When it comes to college admissions, 1978 isn’t just any year. It’s a very special year. It was the year that the Supreme Court decided Regents of the University of California v. Bakke (1978) 438 U.S. 265.

Allan Bakke was a young man with an excellent academic record, who nevertheless got turned down by 12 medical schools. When he applied to the medical school at UC Davis, and was again rejected, he learned that he had almost certainly lost out on the opportunity to attend that medical school because UC had set a quota for admitting non-white people in order to meet the University’s “diversity” requirements. Bakke sued. In a deeply fragmented decision, the Supreme Court held that this race-based admission process was unconstitutional.

With that decision, Obama, who was a self-confessed slacker in high school, suddenly lost his e-ticket to a good college. He couldn’t know then (nor would it have mattered) that the various concurrences in this deeply divided opinion would eventually open the door to colleges and universities making race a “factor” in admission, so much so that this “factor-ness” eventually created a whole new quota system.

My best guess is that, denied an opportunity to use quota systems to parlay a lousy academic record into a quality college admission, Obama searched around for other means of bypassing his academic failings. It was this search that led him to announce that he was Kenyan. I’m sure that a certain amount of digging will reveal that, just when the Bakke decision came down, American universities were engaged in some sort of pro-active policy involving increasing the number of African nationals on America’s college campuses. Obama was happy to oblige the universities in this effort by co-opting his father’s nationality, and burying the fact that he was a garden-variety American black kid.

There’s the nexus — In 1978, Obama, who already then was willing to lie to achieve his goals, created a false identity to deal with the changes the Bakke decision wrought on college admissions.

UPDATE: This isn’t so much an “update,” as it is further thoughts. Although this post might explain why Obama did what he did, it’s really less of a post about Obama himself than it as an indictment showing the rot in the whole race/affirmative action system.

I actually came at the theory bass ackwards, when I was writing about the commonality between Warren and Obama. I began by looking at affirmative action’s origins as a well-intentioned paving stone on the road to Hell. In the beginning, do-gooders felt that it made sense to give the then-current generation of blacks a leg up, rather than making them wait the two to three generations it took other disenfranchised people (Irish immigrants, Italian immigrants, Jewish immigrants, etc.) to “make it” in America. After all, we had forced upon these blacks their sufferings, and it was up to us to fix it, and to fix it quickly.

Once it affirmative action became institutionalized, however, it inevitably became corrupt. From the institution’s side, it was a numbers game and a way to boast about liberal credibility, irrespective of whether the student or employee benefiting actually suffered handicaps from his or her race. (Witness the way Harvard milked Elizabeth Warren’s Native Americanism, despite the fact that, even if true, it never handicapped her upbringing or denied her educational opportunities.)

From the point of view of ordinary Americans who were willing to say anything to advance, it became a ginormous loophole. For example, back in the 1970s, I knew a rich Jewish girl with average grades who got into Lowell, San Francisco’s academic high school, by using a dark complexion and a fake accent (~) on her lily-white name to pretend to be Hispanic. Fearing a charge of racism, the district caved and let her in, despite the fact that other students who did not run from their white heritage had better grades. Elizabeth Warren is not the first to play this game.

Thinking about this history, I asked myself why Obama didn’t just leverage himself through the system based upon his being half-black? Why did he have to be African? It was those high school memories that let me to the answer. Like me, Barack Obama, who is almost exactly my age, graduated in the shadow of Bakke. It didn’t affect me, but it sure as heck must have affected him.

Standing alone, my Bakke theory does nothing more than prove, once more, that Obama lies, which is something we’ve seen in real time over the last 3.5 years. Nevertheless, I think this theory has a larger utility insofar as it lays bare one of the rotten pillars of the Leftist race hustlers.

Just How Smart Is Obama?

Source

Over at Real Clear Politics, Jack Kelly has a long piece which says that Obama is more like a 40 watt CFL in a sea of 100 watt incandescent

Barack Obama is the smartest man with the highest IQ ever to be elected to the presidency, historian Michael Beschloss told radio talk show host Don Imus in November of 2008.

“So what is his IQ?” Mr. Imus asked. Mr. Beschloss didn’t know. He was just assuming.

Many shared that assumption. Adjectives frequently applied to Mr. Obama are “smart” (278 million hits on Google), “intelligent” (62 million) and “brilliant” (24 million).

There is little evidence to support it. Mr. Obama went to Harvard, but so did George W. Bush, who some liberals consider dumber than dirt. The president won’t release his transcripts, so we can’t judge by his grades. Mr. Obama was president of the Harvard Law Review, but when he was selected, popularity mattered more than scholarship.

Mr. Obama joined an undistinguished law firm, where he tried no cases. So no help there.

Many cite the president’s oratorical skills, but he often rambles when he speaks without a teleprompter. That’s because his brain “is moving so fast that the mouth can’t keep up,” wrote Meghan Daum of the Los Angeles Times.

Mr. Kelly provides many, many more examples of a supposed smart president who never is truly capable of showing how smart he is. The question is “is Obama really not that bright, or is he simply a smart guy who is just a boob?” 57 states. “Austrian” language. Being called an incompetent and an amateur by Bill Clinton. Insulting our allies.

Most of his legislation can’t pass. The legislation that does tends to be really, really unpopular. His signature legislation (outsourced to Congress), the Stimulus, was an abject failure, except in terms of funneling lots of money to companies that were bound to fail (Solyndra, FirstSolar, etc), but rewarded campaign contributors. His other signature legislation, ObamaCare (again, outsourced to Congress and lobbyists), is despised by a majority of Americans.

So, just how smart is Obama? Who knows. What we do know that he is a disaster. If he is smart, it’s book smart, because he sure doesn’t seem to understand what happens out in the real world. Oh, he can fake it when talk (down) to people, but his policies tend to make things worse.

Furthermore, imagine how foolish Obama would look without Joe Biden around. And now, we’re seeing that his campaign skills have eroded, making constant bad decisions by pushing his shiny distractions.

Bookworm loves the article, as he is mentioned (Doug Ross is mentioned, as well). Wake Up America points out that for such a smart guy, Obama is campaigning dumb.

Obama is not smart

Original

Jack Kelly, the well-known columnist who writes for the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette and The Blade of Toledo, Ohio, has taken on the claim that Barack Obama is the smartest president ever. Those of us at the Bookworm Room have always derided this contention, which is built on fairy dust and unicorn horns.

I was reading through Kelly’s column, nodding my head in approval at every point he scored:

Kelly also cites to Obama’s ill-informed statements and his terrible public equity decisions.

I agree with everything Kelly says about Obama’s not-so-formidable intellect. But here’s the fun part (for me) — the part about Obama’s book:

“The book’s language, oddly specific references, literary devices and themes would bear a jarring similarity to Ayers’ own writing,” Mr. Andersen wrote.

Biographer David Maraniss published this month his interview with Genevieve Cook, who dated Mr. Obama in New York, but bears little resemblance to the “New York girlfriend” described in “Dreams.” That’s because she is a composite, Mr. Obama said.

Yet Mr. Obama’s description closely resembles radical Diana Oughton, who was Mr. Ayers girlfriend and who blew herself to smithereens in 1970 while building a bomb intended to kill soldiers at Fort Dix, according to the blogger “Bookworm.” [Emphasis mine, of course.]

To which I say, “Woo hoo!!!”

Fox News viewers least infformed?

Another ridiculous poll says Fox viewers are the dumbest, but Glenn set out on radio this morning to prove otherwise.

The study, conducted by Fairleigh Dickinson University, found that NPR listeners were the most informed while FOX News viewers were at the bottom, even falling behind people who claim to not watch any news programming. The participants were judged based on answers to a series of domestic and international questions.

The study concluded:

… that media sources have a significant impact on the number of questions that people were able to answer correctly. The largest effect is that of Fox News: all else being equal, someone who watched only Fox News would be expected to answer just 1.04 domestic questions correctly — a figure which is significantly worse than if they had reported watching no media at all.

On the other hand, if they listened only to NPR, they would be expected to answer 1.51 questions correctly; viewers of Sunday morning talk shows fare similarly well. And people watching only The Daily Show with Jon Stewart could answer about 1.42 questions correctly.

The Blaze noted that the methodology oversampled Republicans “to get a better estimate of the Republican voting process,” but also increased the Republican margin of error.

What were some of the questions?

1) To the best of your knowledge, have the opposition groups protesting in Egypt been successful in removing Hosni Mubarak?

2) How about the opposition groups in Syria? Have they been successful in removing Bashar al-Assad?

3) Some countries in Europe are deeply in debt, and have had to be bailed out by other countries. To the best of your knowledge, which country has had to spend the most money to bail out European countries?

4) There have been increasing talks about economic sanctions against Iran. What are these sanctions supposed to do?

5) Which party has the most seats in the House of Representatives right now?

6) In December, House Republicans agreed to a short-term extension of a payroll tax cut, but only if President Obama agreed to do what? (Open-Ended)

7) It took a long time to get the final results of the Iowa caucuses for Republican candidates. In the end, who was declared the winner? (Open-Ended)

8) How about the New Hampshire Primary? Which Republican won that race? (Open-Ended)

9) According to the figures, about what percentage of Americans are currently unemployed? (Open-Ended)

Not convinced that FOX viewers were the least informed, Glenn invited a fan to answer the questions and unsurprisingly, he was able to give the right answers.
