Toulouse killings: Lather, Rinse, and Repeat

The killer of French schoolchildren and soldiers turns out to be a man called Mohammed Merah. The story can now proceed according to time-honored tradition:

Stage One: The strange compulsion to assure us that the killer is a “right wing conservative extremist,” in the words of NRO commenter ExpatAsia, echoed by Chrisman and Galt’s Bain.

Up north, this view was shared by Canada’s most prominent establishment Jew and the Liberal Party attack poodle Warren Kinsella (whom NR readers may recall from my free-speech cover story, which mentioned the groveling apology he was forced to make to “the Chinese community” after an unfortunately sinophobic cat joke).

The insistence that the killer was emblematic of an epidemic of right-wing hate sweeping the planet is, regrettably, no longer operative. Instead, the killer isn’t representative of anything at all.

So on to Stage Two: Okay, he may be called Mohammed but he’s a “lone wolf.” Sure, he says he was trained by al-Qaeda, but what does he know? Don’t worry, folks, he’s just a lone wolf like Major Hasan and Faisal Shahzad and all the other card-carrying members of the Amalgamated Union of Lone Wolves. All jihad is local.

On to Stage Three: Okay, even if there are enough lone wolves around to form their own Radio City Rockette line, it’s still nothing to do with Islam. I’m sad to see the usually perceptive Ed West of the London Telegraph planting his flag on this wobbling blancmange.

And then, of course, Stage Four: The backlash that never happens. Because apparently the really bad thing about actual dead Jews is that it might lead to dead non-Jews: “French Muslims Fear Backlash After Shooting.” Likewise, after Major Hasan’s mountain of dead infidels, “Shooting Raises Fears For Muslims In US Army.” Likewise, after the London Tube slaughter, “British Muslims Fear Repercussions After Tomorrow’s Train Bombing.” Oh, no, wait, that’s a parody, though it’s hard to tell.

Look, pace Ed West, isn’t it just a teensy-weensy little bit to do with Islam? Or at any rate the internal contradictions of one-way multiculturalism? No, it’s not a competition. Most times in today’s Europe, the guys beating, burning and killing Jews will be Muslims.

Once in a while, it will be somebody else killing the schoolkids. But is it so hard to acknowledge that rapid, transformative, mass Muslim immigration might not be the most obvious aid to social tranquility? That it might possibly pose challenges that would otherwise not have existed — for uncovered women in Oslo, for gays in Amsterdam, for Jews everywhere?

Is it so difficult to wonder if, for these and other groups living in a long-shot social experiment devised by their rulers, the price of putting an Islamic crescent in the diversity quilt might be too high? What’s left of Jewish life in Europe is being extinguished remorselessly, one vandalized cemetery, one subway attack at a time. How many Jewish children will be at that school in Toulouse a decade hence?

A society that becomes more Muslim eventually becomes less everything else. What is happening on the Continent is tragic, in part because it was entirely unnecessary.

Jared Loughner's Similarity to Tea Partiers

No wonder the "mainstream" media tried so hard to sell the idea that Jared Loughner was motivated by the Tea Party movement. Look at all the eerie similarities:

Media Campaign to Pin Tucson Shootings on Conservatives Flops

Despite the best efforts of major liberal propagandists (Paul Krugman, Keith Olbermann, Bill Maher, Geraldo Rivera, et al.), the bizarre but heavily promoted notion that conservatives' allegedly overheated rhetoric caused Jared Loughton's psychotic killing spree is falling on deaf ears. Even CBS admits that the unconscionable campaign to exploit the tragedy in Tucson has failed:

As the facts become better known, these numbers will not move in liars' favor.

First they crammed the global warming hoax down our throats, then they hyped an unqualified leftist into the White House while refusing to publicize his alarming background, now this. The "mainstream" media is quickly becoming a ghetto, credible only in the minds of liberals devoted enough to brainwash themselves into not knowing they're being lied to by the dregs of our society.

Only 32% of the public believes that political rhetoric motivated the “quite liberal” Tucson crackpot

Source

Sorry libs.
Only 32% of the public believes that political rhetoric caused the “quite liberal” Tucson crackpot to go on a shooting binge at a Safeway. Even a majority of honest democrats believe the shootings were not caused by heated political rhetoric.
The Hill reported:

Almost 60 percent of the public believes that heated political rhetoric has nothing to do with an Arizona shooting spree that gravely wounded Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D) and killed a federal judge.

Fifty-seven percent of respondents in a new CBS News poll said rhetoric is unrelated to the shooting, while 32 percent said they believe the two are connected…

… Republicans who responded to the poll do not believe the shooting was related to rhetoric at a greater rate than Democrats. Sixty-nine percent of Republicans said rhetoric was not a factor, compared to 19 percent who said it was connected.

A narrow plurality of Democrats believe there is no relationship — 49 percent to 42. Fifty-six percent of independents believe rhetoric is unrelated to the shooting, and 33 percent think it was.

It’s time for a few apologies, isn’t it?

In a related Rasmussen poll… 45% of voters are worried that Obama opponents will turn to violence, down from 53% last year.

Sweden's reward for pandering to Muslims

Suspected suicide bomb in central Stockholm injures two and panics shoppers

A suspected terrorist blew himself up in an apparent suicide bomb attack in central Stockholm which left two injured and caused panic among Christmas shoppers. Two explosions rocked the busy shopping street of Drottninggatan among the afternoon crowds.

A Swedish news agency said it had received messages about 10 minutes before the blasts in Arabic and Swedish, warning of unspecified “action”. The email warning, 10 minutes before the bombs, protested about the country’s presence in Afghanistan, where it has a force of 500 soldiers, mainly in the north of the country.

“Our acts will speak for themselves,” the agency quoted the message as saying. “Now your children, your daughters and your sisters will die as our brothers, our sisters and our children are dying.” The email had sound files in Swedish and Arabic.

The agency said the warning, which was also sent to Sweden’s Security Police (SAPO), also referred to caricatures of the Prophet Mohammed by the Swedish artist Lars Vilks.

Petra Sjolander, a police spokesman, said the first explosion was in a car containing gas canisters. The dead man was found at the site of the second blast about 300 yards away.

According to reports, the man was carrying pipe bombs, as well as a backpack full of nails. He shouted Arabic slogans before setting off the explosion.

Police were last night investigating whether other, unexploded bombs were on the scene.

Police spokesman Ulf Johansson said: “We need more investigation and of course we need more witnesses. The car exploded with a series of minor explosions and there was also some kind of explosion close up to where we found the dead man.”

Al-Qaeda suicide bomber kills 23 Shiites in Yemen

Original

I remember how Saudi King Abdullah told Obama that a “solution to the Palestinian issue would be ‘the magic key’ to resolving all other conflicts in the region”. Yeah, those damn Jews…

SANAA (AFP) – A suicide car bomber killed 23 Shiites at a religious procession in Yemen on Wednesday, an attack a tribal chief charged was a bid by Al-Qaeda to fan sectarian tensions in the already restive country.

Tribal leaders said the dead were all supporters or fighters of a Zaidi Shiite rebel group that has been observing an uneasy truce with the government since February.

The bomber struck in Al-Jawf province, a rebel stronghold in the far north, as the faithful were preparing to mark Al-Ghadeer. This is the day on which Shiites commemorate the anointment of Ali, one of the key figures of their faith, as successor to the Prophet Mohammed.

“It was a suicide bombing and it was the work of Al-Qaeda,” the tribal chief said.

“The suicide bomber driving a four-wheel drive vehicle blew himself up alongside the procession. Among the dead was provincial tribal chief Hussein bin Ahmed bin Hadhban and his son.”
