Boko Haram: "I Will Sell Your Daughters"

UK leaders sound alarm over persecution of Christians in the Middle East

The 2013 Christmas season brought with it the clarion call sounded by the Prince of Wales and a series of UK leaders over the dwindling population of Christians in the Middle East, where “Christianity was, literally, born.” Speaking at Clarence House in London, Prince Charles addressed religious leaders, following visits to both the Coptic Orthodox and the Syrian Orthodox Churches.

“I have for some time now been deeply troubled by the growing difficulties faced by Christian communities in various parts of the Middle East. It seems to me that we cannot ignore the fact that they are, increasingly, being deliberately targeted by fundamentalist Islamist militants,” Prince Charles stated clearly, while taking the lead in defense of Christianity by recognizing the grave situation Christians are facing and encouraging the world to stand against these atrocities.

“We all lose something immensely and irreplaceably precious when such a rich tradition – dating back 2,000 years – begins to disappear,” he went on to say, in heartfelt remarks.

The problems facing Christians in the Middle East should not be taken as lightly as they seem to have been so far by world leaders. The former archbishop of Canterbury, George Carey, in his Christmas message published in The Sunday Telegraph writes about this saying, “I imagine that in the West our politicians think that because churches have until recently been in extraordinarily powerful opinion-forming positions, they cannot possibly be pictured as a persecuted minority.

Yet far from being important and influential, in many parts of the world Christianity is weak and despised, and Christians are attacked and killed. In Nigeria, churches are firebombed; in Pakistan, churchgoers are prosecuted under draconian blasphemy laws, while in Egypt, they are either marginalized or assaulted.” Turning his attention to the problems Christians are also facing in the West, he then observes, “Closer to home, I admit I am worried about the future of faith in the West. Many Christians I meet say there is a pressure on them to be silent about their faith.”

As the situation for Christians in the Middle East seems to be worsening, embracing the word “persecution” when describing the ongoing atrocities in the region is apparently not something that the general public is willing to do. The majority opinion is still one which allows for so many media outlets to ignore the true scale and origin of the matter.

The deliberate targeting by “fundamentalist Islamist militants” that Prince Charles spoke of is graphically and statistically supported by Open Doors’ recently released 2014 World Watch List reporting on the 50 worst nations persecuting Christians around the world. CBN News contributor Raymond Ibrahim writes that “those persecuting Christians in 41 of 50 nations are Muslims.”

Douglas Alexander, British labor party politician and shadow foreign secretary places today’s dire matters in perspective when he points out that “Across the Middle East, Christians have lived for almost two millennia in the place their faith was born…Indeed, the Ottoman Empire, which spanned much of today’s modern Middle East, was a multicultural state, with Christians cohabiting alsongside Shia, Sunni, Jews, Alawites and Druze.”

The interventions of the former archbishop of Canterbury and Prince Charles, particularly at Christmas, may have helped in showing how serious the matter truly is and how one should not presuppose it to be a fleeting incident. Even so, one can only wonder how much longer Christians are to be subjected to such suffering before their brutal treatment is recognized for the outrageous and futile tragedy it really is?

One of the biggest problems that Western society faces when it comes to unveiling the truth seems to be that of political correctness. Douglas Alexander talks about the threat such overzealous pseudo attempts at protecting certain freedoms can represent. “In the UK today, perhaps through a misplaced sense of political correctness, or some sense of embarrassment at ‘doing God’ in an age when secularism is more common, too many politicians seem to fear discussing any matters related to faith,” he states in the The Sunday Telegraph, making reference to Alastair Campbell’s memorable interruption of one of Tony Blair’s interviews by adding “we don’t do God” in order to prevent the then prime minister from talking about his faith.

Douglas Alexander also adds that “just like anti-Semitism or Islamophobia, anti-Christian persecution must be named for the evil that it is, and challenged systematically by people of faith and of no faith.” This seems to be the issue which has become a leitmotiv when it comes to defending a Christian’s right to worship.

Defending religious freedom appears to be the socially excepted norm; however, this doesn’t always seem to be the case when Christianity is involved. Even though such a defense would only mean that all religions would be treated equally, or as Douglas Alexander observed, it would mean “not to support one faith over another – it is to say that persecution and oppression of our fellow human beings in the name of any god or ideology is never acceptable and is morally repugnant.”

The conservative Telegraph reports that Prime Minister David Cameron attempts to join the conversation praising Christian volunteerism or what he refers to nebulously as “Big Society.”
“Syria, Iraq, Egypt and other areas of the Holy Land sometimes overflow with tears. We won’t resign ourselves to a Middle East without Christians who for two thousand years confess the name of Jesus, as full citizens in social, cultural, and religious life of the nations to which they belong,” Pope Francis declared recently in meetings with several Eastern rite leaders, including Coptic Pope Tawadros II of Egypt.

But is the West turning the proverbial blind eye to all of these events? Is Christianity being deliberately targeted for destruction not only through persecution in places like the Middle East but also through the “keep silent about your faith so you don’t offend anyone” policy that the West has been taking part in for some time?

London’s Sunday Telegraph editorialized on the eve of Christmas that “Christian freedoms are worth fighting for.” Where are the New York Times and the Washington Post on this vital issue of our day? So, we must be grateful for those courageous media, religious, political and royal leaders in the UK for speaking up on behalf of Christianity during the Christmas season; and, yes, thank you Prince Charles for taking the lead.

On the one hand, the persecution Christians are faced with in the Middle East is rapidly deplenishing the region of this religion by killing or driving away believers. On the other hand, political correctness is slowly but surely seeping into the very fabric of Western Civilization and making this part of the world more and more immune to the suffering of people and the significance of the atrocities that are taking place.

The way in which Christians are looked upon in the Middle East today by “fundamentalist Islamist militants” is no different than any other past example of inhumanity which plagued the world with its horrors, not so long ago. One can only hope that the term Christian will not become readily accepted by the West, the way it seems to have been in other regions, as another historical equivalent of the Holocaust’s “Untermensch” or of Rwanda’s “cockroach.” Indeed, where are the governments representing these 41 of 50 Muslim nations specified on the Open Doors’ 2014 World Watch List, and why are they silent?

Some Christians in the Middle East may have lived through another Christmas, yet, despite this, sad, somber questions lurk in the dark corner of a future that is almost upon them and, ultimately, through the burden of brotherly love and responsibility, upon us all: “Will the birthplace of Christianity still be a home for Christians in the future? What will the world lose if Christian tradition is lost in the region? Should we even dare to contemplate such a future?”

Gulf states to 'detect' homosexuals and stop them entering the country

Kuwait and other states could conduct medical tests in an attempt to “detect” homosexuals trying to enter Gulf states, a senior official has announced.

Yousouf Mindkar said routine clinical screenings of expatriates entering Gulf Cooperation Countries (GCC) such as Kuwait would be introduced at airports under new proposals. Persons who are identified as LGBT through the tests would then be refused entry into the country.

A central committee tasked with the status of expatriates will view the proposal on November 11.

Speaking to local daily paper Al Rai, the director of public health at the Kuwaiti health ministry said that whilst medical centres already conduct tests to assess the health of those entering Kuwait, they will “take stricter measures that will help us detect gays who will be then barred from entering Kuwait or any of the GCC member states.”

He did not detail exactly what procedures these screenings would involve.

Those under the age of 21 living in Kuwait found to be taking part in homosexual acts currently face prison sentences of up to ten years. Homosexual acts are banned in all GCC member countries, which include Saudi Arabia, Oman and the United Arab Emirates.

Earlier this week Oman suspended their newspaper The Week, alleging it had printed an article that was considered sympathetic towards homosexuals.

Homosexuality is illegal in 78 countries across the world and is still punishable by death in five countries, which include Iran and Yemen and Saudi Arabia.

What Putin Has to Say to Americans About Syria

RECENT events surrounding Syria have prompted me to speak directly to the American people and their political leaders. It is important to do so at a time of insufficient communication between our societies.

Relations between us have passed through different stages. We stood against each other during the cold war. But we were also allies once, and defeated the Nazis together. The universal international organization — the United Nations — was then established to prevent such devastation from ever happening again.

The United Nations’ founders understood that decisions affecting war and peace should happen only by consensus, and with America’s consent the veto by Security Council permanent members was enshrined in the United Nations Charter. The profound wisdom of this has underpinned the stability of international relations for decades.

No one wants the United Nations to suffer the fate of the League of Nations, which collapsed because it lacked real leverage. This is possible if influential countries bypass the United Nations and take military action without Security Council authorization.

The potential strike by the United States against Syria, despite strong opposition from many countries and major political and religious leaders, including the pope, will result in more innocent victims and escalation, potentially spreading the conflict far beyond Syria’s borders.

A strike would increase violence and unleash a new wave of terrorism. It could undermine multilateral efforts to resolve the Iranian nuclear problem and the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and further destabilize the Middle East and North Africa.

It could throw the entire system of international law and order out of balance.
Syria is not witnessing a battle for democracy, but an armed conflict between government and opposition in a multireligious country. There are few champions of democracy in Syria. But there are more than enough Qaeda fighters and extremists of all stripes battling the government.

The United States State Department has designated Al Nusra Front and the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant, fighting with the opposition, as terrorist organizations. This internal conflict, fueled by foreign weapons supplied to the opposition, is one of the bloodiest in the world

Mercenaries from Arab countries fighting there, and hundreds of militants from Western countries and even Russia, are an issue of our deep concern. Might they not return to our countries with experience acquired in Syria? After all, after fighting in Libya, extremists moved on to Mali. This threatens us all

From the outset, Russia has advocated peaceful dialogue enabling Syrians to develop a compromise plan for their own future. We are not protecting the Syrian government, but international law. We need to use the United Nations Security Council and believe that preserving law and order in today’s complex and turbulent world is one of the few ways to keep international relations from sliding into chaos.

The law is still the law, and we must follow it whether we like it or not. Under current international law, force is permitted only in self-defense or by the decision of the Security Council. Anything else is unacceptable under the United Nations Charter and would constitute an act of aggression

No one doubts that poison gas was used in Syria. But there is every reason to believe it was used not by the Syrian Army, but by opposition forces, to provoke intervention by their powerful foreign patrons, who would be siding with the fundamentalists. Reports that militants are preparing another attack — this time against Israel — cannot be ignored.

It is alarming that military intervention in internal conflicts in foreign countries has become commonplace for the United States. Is it in America’s long-term interest? I doubt it. Millions around the world increasingly see America not as a model of democracy but as relying solely on brute force, cobbling coalitions together under the slogan “you’re either with us or against us.”

But force has proved ineffective and pointless. Afghanistan is reeling, and no one can say what will happen after international forces withdraw. Libya is divided into tribes and clans. In Iraq the civil war continues, with dozens killed each day. In the United States, many draw an analogy between Iraq and Syria, and ask why their government would want to repeat recent mistakes.

No matter how targeted the strikes or how sophisticated the weapons, civilian casualties are inevitable, including the elderly and children, whom the strikes are meant to protect.

The world reacts by asking: if you cannot count on international law, then you must find other ways to ensure your security. Thus a growing number of countries seek to acquire weapons of mass destruction. This is logical: if you have the bomb, no one will touch you. We are left with talk of the need to strengthen nonproliferation, when in reality this is being eroded.

We must stop using the language of force and return to the path of civilized diplomatic and political settlement.

A new opportunity to avoid military action has emerged in the past few days. The United States, Russia and all members of the international community must take advantage of the Syrian government’s willingness to place its chemical arsenal under international control for subsequent destruction. Judging by the statements of President Obama, the United States sees this as an alternative to military action.

I welcome the president’s interest in continuing the dialogue with Russia on Syria. We must work together to keep this hope alive, as we agreed to at the Group of 8 meeting in Lough Erne in Northern Ireland in June, and steer the discussion back toward negotiations.

If we can avoid force against Syria, this will improve the atmosphere in international affairs and strengthen mutual trust. It will be our shared success and open the door to cooperation on other critical issues.

My working and personal relationship with President Obama is marked by growing trust. I appreciate this. I carefully studied his address to the nation on Tuesday. And I would rather disagree with a case he made on American exceptionalism, stating that the United States’ policy is “what makes America different. It’s what makes us exceptional.” It is extremely dangerous to encourage people to see themselves as exceptional, whatever the motivation.

There are big countries and small countries, rich and poor, those with long democratic traditions and those still finding their way to democracy. Their policies differ, too. We are all different, but when we ask for the Lord’s blessings, we must not forget that God created us equal.

Yemeni child bride, eight, dies of internal injuries on first night of forced marriage to groom five times her age

An eight-year-old child bride has died in Yemen of internal bleeding sustained during her wedding night after being forced to marry a man five times her age, activists have claimed.

The girl, identified only as Rawan, died in the tribal area of Hardh in northwestern Yemen, which borders Saudi Arabia.

Activists are now calling for the groom, who is believed to be around 40 years old, and her family to be arrested so they can face justice in the courts.

They say arrests would help put a stop to the practice of marrying very young girls to older men in the impoverished region.

'All those who supported such a crime should also be punished,' he added.

Another blogger, called Omar, wrote: 'Rawan’s family members are not humans. They do not deserve to have children.'

But another blogger, called 'Sad', appeared more sympathetic to the custom. He wrote: 'Her family and her groom could have waited for some time before having this marriage,' Sad said.

'It was not fair at all and the marriage should not have happened even if some tribes believe that it is a good custom.'

The practice of marrying young girls is widespread in Yemen and has attracted the attention of international rights groups seeking to pressure the government to outlaw child marriages.

Yemen's gripping poverty plays a role in hindering efforts to stamp out the practice, as poor families find themselves unable to say no to 'bride-prices' that can be hundreds of dollars for their daughters.

More than a quarter of Yemen's females marry before age 15, according to a report in 2010 by the Social Affairs Ministry.

Tribal custom also plays a role, including the belief that a young bride can be shaped into an obedient wife, bear more children and be kept away from temptation.

In September 2010, a 12-year-old Yemeni child-bride died after struggling for three days in labour to give birth, a local human rights organisation said.

Yemen once set 15 as the minimum age for marriage, but parliament annulled that law in the 1990s, saying parents should decide when a daughter marries.

Sweden – A raped country

Today’s text is a translation (by Utlandssvensk – a Swede in exile) of a column written by a renowned Swedish journalist. This journalist has been writing one column a week on the Danish website Snaphanen since after the Swedish election in September 2010. She has to write under the pseudonym of Julia Caesar (the late actress in the mid 20th century) in order not to be harassed by Sweden’s “do-gooders”, journalists, politicians and in particular AFA/Antifa.
Four other columns have already been translated into English and published here.
Sweden – A raped country
A beautiful summer is coming to an end. But it was not beautiful for everybody. During this summer, the number of reported rapes has increased with 25% compared to the same period last year.
According to BRA (a government agency supposedly tasked with preventing crimes) a total of 1091 rapes were reported during June and July. Rape of children under the age of 15 has increased with 53%, from 192 cases last year to 294 this year, again only for June and July. In total, sexual crimes increased by 18% compared to the same period last year. BRA believes that the reason for all of this is the beautiful summer weather:
“One explanation for this increase may be partly due to the nice weather this summer,” according to Sven Granath, investigator at BRA.
Those are the words of a civil servant that has become totally politically correct. I pray for his soul. He works at a government agency that is fully funded by taxpayers and considers that his mission is to hide the truth and administer tranquilizers to both the general population and the ruling government. In a dictatorship, BRA would be called The Board for making non desirable facts invisible. But what is really the difference? Sweden is approaching the condition that is a typical for a dictatorship, i.e. government agencies that hide the truth from common citizens and a media that is loyal to the government and considers the promotion of state sponsored lies to be its mission.
The truth has a price

Perhaps Mr. Granath is afraid of losing his job, which would be understandable. Maybe he is pondering the fate that befell Mr. Mauricio Rojas, spokesman for the liberal party regarding immigration, after he published an article in the DN (a major daily newspaper) that highlighted the underlying cultural reasons for the massive overrepresentation of immigrants among criminals.
Mr. Rojas was made persona non grata in politics and was subjected to slander, intimidation and threats and came to require 24 hour bodyguard protection. Originally, he arrived in Sweden 1974 as a political refugee from Chile, but in 2008 he was forced to flee since he had, once again, become an irritation for a totalitarian regime. He moved to Spain and is today the headmaster of the Madrid School of Integration.
Truth has a price. The practice of killing the messenger when he brings unwanted news is as old as mankind itself. Perhaps it is the recollection of Mr. Rojas fate that has made Mr. Granath sell his soul on the marketplace of lies and hidden truths. Let us hope that the reward he receives amply compensates for the truths that he has sacrificed.
An “impartial” civil servant

Let us also say a small prayer for Mr. Granath’s co-worker, Mrs. Klara Hradilova-Selin, who serves as an“impartial” expert on rape at BRA and is also a confessed member of the Facebook group “Social Democrats in parliament – No thanks”.
Sorry, that should of course be “Sweden Democrats in parliament – No thanks”. In Sweden, such publicly stated private views are not considered to be a problem for somebody that claims to be politically impartial.
Why are persons with foreign backgrounds regarded as impartial when it comes to issues regarding immigration? Increasingly, they are marching as frontline soldiers fighting for multiculture at all levels of society. Nobody dares to argue against them, since you would then be labeled as “hostile to strangers”. Is there anybody that believes that Mrs. Hradilova-Selin’s immigrant background does not affect her and causes scientific bias when it comes to questions about the statistical overrepresentation of immigrants as perpetrators of crime? Mrs. Hradilova-Selin delivered an excellent example of the fine art of truth bending when she was interviewed on SVT Rapport (state broadcaster news show).
We are informed that female rape victims simply are prejudiced (implicitly racist) when they claim that the perpetrator has dark hair. People that are subjected to serious crimes remember events wrongly and are controlled by preconceived notions. Women that get their lives and genitals thrashed by Ahmed from Iraq or Mustafa from Somalia must be made to realize that their recollection is flawed. In actual fact, it was the light blonde Kalle (typical Swedish name) that committed the heinous crime. Hallelujah! What an enormous comfort for a woman that had been subjected to the worst possible form of degradation.

Thank you, BRA! Thank you, Mr.Granath and Mrs. Klara Hradilova-Selin. You are doing your job as useful idiots exactly as expected and you will surely receive a medal for long and faithful service to the public lies.
Immigrants overrepresented by 450 percent

What Mrs. Hradilova-Selin is saying is remarkable, since it contradicts BRA’s own research. Two major reports, “Crime among first and second generation immigrants, 1996:2” and “Crime among persons born in Sweden and abroad, 2005:17”, show that immigrants are heavily overrepresented among criminals. These are facts. In general, they are overrepresented by a bit more that 100 percent. But when it comes to more serious crimes, such as murder, manslaughter and assault on strangers, immigrants are overrepresented by 400 – 500 percent. For rape the number is 450 percent.
The person responsible for the two BRA reports, Director Jan Ahlberg, died in 2005 and the moral courage of BRA died with him. Beyond the grave, Mr. Ahlberg can no longer defend himself and the coast is clear for his unscrupulous colleagues to dance on his grave and pretend that his research does not exist. Mrs. Hradilova-Selin does not need to have any fear for repercussions, since the fact that she is both a woman and an immigrant gives her colleagues double reasons to treat her with silk gloves.
Perpetrators from Muslim countries

Immigrants are, of course, not a uniform group and the vast majority of immigrants are committing no crimes at all, while others do it to a very large extent. The largest overrepresentation in crime is displayed by immigrants from Muslim countries like Algeria, Iraq, Libya, Morocco and Tunisia as well as from Chile. The lowest numbers of crimes are committed by immigrants from Western Europe, Southeast Asia, USA, Canada, Australia and New Zealand.
Since BRA issued its first report in 1996, Sweden has granted permanent residence to more than 700.000 immigrants. In particular, immigration from Muslim countries increased dramatically. With astounding bad judgment and naiveté, both conservative and social democratic governments since the early 70′s have kept the Swedish borders wide open for all sorts of unidentified adventurers, war criminals and other offenders.

Since 96 percent lack identification documents, it is in almost all cases people of unknown identity that are allowed into the country and then granted permanent residency.
Somalis – the largest group of immigrants admitted into Sweden, with an increase of 70 percent since last year – and Iraqis are climbing quickly up the rape scoreboard. But we will never know the truth. Apart from the reports 1996 and 2005, BRA suspended reporting the ethnicity of criminals in their statistics 1994. Such facts are not desirable, no matter how true they are.
Sweden has the second highest rate of rape in the world

Serious crime is increasing to an extent that should keep the government and parliament sleepless at night. Crime is increasing beyond all control. Sweden is a raped and violence-torn country located at the top of international comparisons. According to a report by the UN agency UNDC (United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime) recently, Sweden is at number 2 in the UN statistics with 53.2 reported rapes per 100 000 inhabitants. Only Lesotho, a small country in south Africa, has more reported rapes than Sweden. The league table looks like this:
1. Lesotho: 91.6
2. Sweden: 53.2
3. USA: 28.6
4. Zimbabwe: 25.6
5. Norway: 19.8
6. Israel: 17.6
Despite the high Swedish number, there are far more cases that go unreported.
“The problem is that hardly any crime has such a proportion of unreported cases as rape. In Sweden, about 80-90 percent of rapes never become known to society. The reluctance to report is partly due to the fact that rape is a crime that is surrounded by shame,” according to Professor Niklas LÃ¥ngström, sex crime researcher at the Karolinska Institute.
Feelings of shame in the victim, that is. That the perpetrators feel shame is likely to be more rare. The Aftonbladet (major daily tabloid) reports the news like this. We can note that the Aftonbladet are demonstrating a highly creative renewal of the art of making headlines “Sweden at the bottom of rape statistics.” At the bottom?? When the article is about the fact that Sweden tops the list with the second highest rape numbers in the world.
Last year, an EU report showed that Sweden has the highest number of reported rapes in the EU. 5937 rapes were reported to the police in 2009. That is up 9 percent from 2008. But statistics on serious crimes should be viewed over the longer term. Since the new millennium, reported rapes have increased by 193 percent. 1975 was the year in which a unanimous Parliament decided that Sweden should be transformed into a multicultural society. One result is an increase in reported rapes since 1975 with an incredible 673 percent. (Graphic: Affe)

Reported rapes (gross rape included) / Increase = 673%
Nothing wrong with raping a Swedish girl

Socioeconomic factors are a popular explanation for immigrants being overrepresented in crime. That is, if you are unemployed, poor and live in an ugly concrete tower in the suburbs, it is entirely in order to rape, mug, assault and murder. But already in the BRA report from 1996 it was said:
“Immigrants’ overrepresentation in crime is not explained by an unfavorable distribution of gender, age and location. Added to this is the fact that immigrant overrepresentation in crime cannot be explained by the fact that immigrants are less fortunate than Swedes in terms of socioeconomic status.”
The approach of many Muslim men is that there is nothing wrong in raping Swedish girls and women. In their culture, the man has every right to dispose of the woman as he sees fit. Some young men that were interviewed by the daily DN in response to a gang rape in Rissne outside of Stockholm put it like this:
“It’s not as wrong to rape a Swedish girl as it is to rape an Arab girl, says Hamid. The Swedish girl gets a lot of help afterwards, and she had probably been fucked already. But the Arab girl will get problems with her family. For her it is a great shame to be raped. It is important that she retains her virginity when she marries. “
“It’s far too easy to get a whore … girl, I mean,” says Hamid, and displays an embarrassed smile due to his choice of words. Many immigrant boys go with Swedish girls when they are teenagers. But then when they are to marry, they take a proper woman from their own culture that has not been with any guy. So will I do. I do not have much respect for Swedish girls. You could say that they get fucked until they are broken. “(th DN 11 February 2000).
Rape is a hate crime

Rape and gang rapes are hate crimes committed by men. They are a demonstration of male power and hatred. When immigrants commit rape, it is in most cases a racist hate crime specifically aimed at Swedish girls and women.

The rapes expose deep divisions within the immigrant male psyche. Muslim men with a prehistoric view of women and sexuality living in Western societies suffer a culture shock that apparently can cause a total short-circuit in the brain. Nordic women are independent and have the same value as men.

We dress and do as we like. The power, status and superiority that men enjoy in most of the migrants’ home countries, cannot be collected here. Rape is an expression of frustration and aggression that this arouses in some Muslim men. The women in the new home country are not under his control. Therefore, we are regarded as “whores”, which according to these men’s way of looking at things legitimizes their abuse of us.
But it’s not just the Swedish girls and women who are raped. Immigrant girls are also vulnerable, and for them a rape could mean death. In a culture of honor, it is the woman’s fault if she is raped. She is considered to have attracted the offender, and all the guilt and shame are put upon her. She risks death penalty because she has destroyed the family’s so-called “honor”.

If a woman would not be a virgin when she marries, it will be disastrous for her and her entire family and relatives. The man has the right to displace her and dissolve the marriage. The whole family’s honor is ruined, and the marriage value of her sisters and female cousins falls drastically. Honor can only be restored by her death.
Cell phone blackmail

The death threat against a woman is present even if she has been raped. In the study that was done last year by the City of Stockholm (Mrs. Kickis Ã…hré-Älgamo and Mrs.Ulla-Britt Fingal: “Honor related oppression and violence in the City of Stockholm. Report 2009″, University of Stockholm, Department of Social Work) 14 girls over the age of 17 years stated that they had been raped. Only two had filed a police report – twelve had not dared because of the requirement that they should be virgins, which applies in all circumstances. In this group there are also cases of rectal rape as an adaptation to the culture of honor demands that woman should be a virgin.
This placing of guilt has the effect that the crimes are not reported to the police and the perpetrators go free. The perpetrators – in most cases from the same country as the girls – can film the rape with a camera phone and use the images in order to blackmail by threatening to put them on the Internet or show them to the girl’s family. If a woman reveals what she has suffered, she will have signed her own death sentence
Goodbye to safety for women

What is happening to girls and women in Sweden today is that we are gradually forced to restrict our freedom of movement for fear of being raped or subjected to other violence. Safety for women no longer exists.
• You do not go out alone at night.
• You do not take your bike through a dark area.
• You do not take a bus or train home on a Saturday night. You take a taxi.
• You do not take the shortcut through the forest.
This is the dictatorship of fear and lack of freedom. What is happening in today’s Sweden is an extreme anti feminine policy of absolutely intolerable violence and oppression, specifically directed against half of the citizens. The freedom and rights that it has taken Swedish women a century to achieve have been sold out by parliament and the government. If we start from BRA’s estimate that only 5-10 percent of committed rapes are reported to the police, there are 30.000-60.000 girls and women who are raped each year. Swedish politicians thus annually offer 30.000-60.000 women as sacrificial lamb on the bloody altar of multiculturalism. They obviously think that multiculturalism is worth it. What the victims think, nobody cares to ask.
The dirty crimes – A story from a police officer

It’s not just in the rape statistics that Sweden shows horrific numbers. Assault offenses have increased by 45 percent since the turn of the millennium. The total number of reported violent crimes has in the same period increased by 47 percent. If we begin in 1975, the starting year for multiculturalism, the total number of reported violent crimes has increased by a staggering 312 percent.
A rapidly growing category is mugging. In 2009, 6730 robberies were committed against individuals. The increase from 1975 is 234 percent, but is probably much higher, since muggings are sometimes classified in other ways. Behind the neutral word “mugging” hides a terrible reality that leaves the victims with severe traumas.

A very largely proportion of the victims are defenseless children, adolescents or elderly persons. A police officer who writes anonymously on the former Swedish blog Politically Incorrect (today replaced by avpixlat.info) talks about what he calls “the dirty crimes”:
“Several times a week I go home to our elderly and weak that have fallen victim of dirty crime (where someone intrudes into the apartment and deceive/abuse the old person until they get all the valuables) and ask for a descriptions of the perpetrator that committed this terrible abuse. Each time the offender is described as an immigrant from a particular ethnic group. Not once during my entire police career have I had the offenders being described as Swedes.

The same applies to the thousands of muggings in which our children and weak are threatened and robbed on the streets. 95 percent of the hundreds of offenders that have been described to me have been identified by the victim as an immigrant.

These crimes are characterized by a complete lack of respect for human life. I sit in front of an old person with fear in his eyes after having been attacked in his own home – the only safe place that they had left. Full of bruises and testifying about the knife threats they have just endured, and the humiliation they felt when they could not protect themselves.”
A crime wave against the elderly

A wave of crime against the elderly is sweeping through Sweden. Often they happen in a similar way. Two or three women of foreign origin follow the old ones from the bank or store. They follow through the gate and sees where the old person goes in. A moment later they ring the doorbell and ask for a glass of water, help to write a note to someone in the house or some other made-up task. While one of the women occupy the old person, the other walks around the apartment, picking up their cash and valuables. In western Sweden, 15 robberies of elderly persons occurred just last week.
“Most indications point to that the crimes are committed by the same constellation of criminals,” said Detective Inspector Ulf Christensen, who works with this type of crime in West Götaland. In plain language, Roma, but a police officer cannot say this if he wants to keep his job.
We are at war with the Swedes

The same crudity applies to robberies directed against adolescents. Ms. Petra Ã…kesson has in her thesis in sociology interviewed boys between 15 and 17 years convicted of mugging. She wanted to explore the reality behind the wave of muggings that has affected Malmö. The young robbers did not show any remorse or understanding that they had done something wrong. On the contrary – they bragged about who had robbed the most.
“When we’re out robbing, we wage war, we are at war with the Swedes” was a recurring argument. The boys from one school told me smiling that “there comes a great feeling through my body when we rob, you feel satisfied and happy, it feels like one has succeeded.”
To rob Swedish children and adolescents is a deliberate choice. It’s about exercising power: “For me it is power that the Swedes should lie down on the ground and kiss my feet.” “It’s so easy to mug Swedes,” says one of the boys. “When we see some Swedes that seem rich or have good phones, we mug them. The Swedes do not do anything, they just give us the stuff, they’re such wimps.”
Increasing insecurity

Who is surprised that insecurity is increasing? It is one of the multicultural society’s logical consequences. According to the 2009 Citizen poll among 4200 residents in the City of Stockholm, 72 percent of the residents of Rinkeby-Kista is so insecure in their neighborhood that they refrain from going out after darkness. In SpÃ¥nga-Tensta the corresponding number is 66 percent, in Hässelby-Vällingby 63 percent, in Farsta 59 percent. In Skärholmen 71 percent do not dare go out after darkness. The fear of assault and other violent crimes is high. The most insecurity and worry is found in the immigrant-dense areas.
Let us give thanks to our politicians in all seven political parties for the fact that we live in an increasingly violent and insecure reality, since there is such an overwhelming consensus on the conduct of immigration policy that they refuse to even discuss it. Each one of us who lives in Sweden should realistically count on being robbed, beaten or subjected to other violence. In particular, a woman should not expect to be able to move freely outside, if she does not want to risk being raped. Especially if the weather is nice.
Did the politicians ever ponder the consequences before they pushed through multiculturalism and mass immigration? Did they ever think about an expected mass importation of crime? I allow myself to doubt, on two grounds: authentic observations of politician’s brain power in general, and the observation that they have moved themselves to safety in their white ethnic enclaves.
Not a single politician wants to halt the progression

Neither of the two political blocs seems to regard the rapes and other violent crimes against Swedes as a problem. In any case, there are no hints of any attempt at political actions to stop the growing and increasingly brutal violence. Hitherto NOT ONE politician in the seven parliamentary parties has stood up and said: “This development is unacceptable. We must by all means try to stop it.” Not one! They regard it as below their dignity to even discuss the issue. This is since they know that if they deal with crime, they must also deal with the irresponsible immigration policies. And that is a sacred cow that must not be slaughtered. Security for the population is apparently nothing that concerns them. The rape epidemic and the other crime are a non-issue and certainly not a topic for the election. But is there any question that is more important than people’s safety and security?
“When I met Justice Minister Beatrice Ask for an interview in March, I asked her if she was concerned about the overrepresentation of immigrants in BRA’s statistics. She replied that she is not. The problem is the crime itself, not the perpetrators descent.” (Ms. Paulina Neuding, in the Swedish newspaper the Svenska Dagbladet, April 11, 2010.)
The same Ms. Neuding writes in the liberal magazine Neo:
“Research shows that sexual and gender inequality is related. And with large immigration from countries where women have a very weak position you should probably count on the effect on sex crimes statistics.” (Magazine Neo No. 2 of 2010.)
Politicians who treat their people as garbage and are not even able to provide protection to the weak and vulnerable – women, children and old people – what confidence do they deserve? The election results will show.

Britain is suffering the results of earlier mistakes in its immigration policy.

In an interview with The Daily Telegraph, Siv Jensen, the 44-year-old leader of the Progress party who cites Baroness Thatcher as her inspiration, said: "What I have seen that the UK has done is to give in to the claims of sharia councils, and I don't think we should give into that. In Norway we have one law, and that is the Norwegian law."

Miss Jensen, who is unmarried, said Britain was suffering the results of earlier mistakes in its immigration policy.

"I see some problems arising – You've had problems with riots, you've had problems with radical groups who aren't very fond of democratic systems and freedom of speech, and I think those are criteria that you really have to stick to in the modern world."

Miss Jensen's party has grown to become Norway's third largest since it was launched in the 1970s, pushing a libertarian economic and social policy, combined with a vehemently anti-immigrant, anti-Islamic stand.

Ahead of parliamentary elections this Sunday, she could now enter into coalition for the first time with the more centrist Conservatives, who hold a wafer thin poll lead over their rivals Labour.

"We are ready to take on the responsibility," Miss Jensen said.

Miss Jensen has steered her party to recovery since the aftermath of the twin attacks mounted two years ago by far-Right terrorist Anders Breivik, a former party member. The party's support dropped to 12 per cent but a softening in her rhetoric since the attacks has helped them recover.

"Siv Jensen used to talk about 'the hidden Islamisation of Norway', and she doesn't do that any more," said Martine Aurdal, political editor of the Dagbladet newspaper and Miss Jensen's biographer.

In recent months the party has published a hard-hitting 'Immigration sustainability report', while she has allowed other members of her party a free voice.

Christian Tybring-Gjedde, who leads the party in Oslo, speaks about a cultural war with Islam.

"We can't celebrate Christmas in school, we can't sing Christmas Carols," he told the Telegraph. "This is a small part of our culture, which is being washed away gradually, and its very painful. We gave them a home, and now it's us who are having to adapt to their culture."

The report recommends the number of non-Western immigrants coming to Norway from close to 20,000 a year to about 1,500 a year.

To do this, it recommends renegotiating international refugee treaties, making it more difficult to get citizenship, and curtailing the rights of Norwegian citizens from non-Western countries to bring over their families.

Traditional Islamic marriages would not count as marriages for immigration purposes, while a spouse would need to have studied for seven years after primary school to be eligible to come to Norway, effectively ruling out family reunion with spouses from most Islamic and less developed countries.

When asked about the proposal to make Islamic marriages ineligible, Miss Jensen stressed that the report was not yet official party policy.

Miss Jensen rejected any comparison of her party's ideas on to those of Breivik. "I haven't really spent much time reading his crazy theories, but what he did was just very awful and he attacked our democracy and I think here, nobody blames us for his actions. That would be absurd."

Rebels Admit Responsibility for Chemical Weapons Attack

Militants tell AP reporter they mishandled Saudi-supplied chemical weapons, causing accident

Syrian rebels in the Damascus suburb of Ghouta have admitted to Associated Press journalist Dale Gavlak that they were responsible for last week’s chemical weapons incident which western powers have blamed on Bashar Al-Assad’s forces, revealing that the casualties were the result of an accident caused by rebels mishandling chemical weapons provided to them by Saudi Arabia.

"From numerous interviews with doctors, Ghouta residents, rebel fighters and their families….many believe that certain rebels received chemical weapons via the Saudi intelligence chief, Prince Bandar bin Sultan, and were responsible for carrying out the (deadly) gas attack,” writes Gavlak.

Rebels told Gavlak that they were not properly trained on how to handle the chemical weapons or even told what they were. It appears as though the weapons were initially supposed to be given to the Al-Qaeda offshoot Jabhat al-Nusra.

“We were very curious about these arms. And unfortunately, some of the fighters handled the weapons improperly and set off the explosions,” one militant named ‘J’ told Gavlak.
His claims are echoed by another female fighter named ‘K’, who told Gavlak, “They didn’t tell us what these arms were or how to use them. We didn’t know they were chemical weapons. We never imagined they were chemical weapons.”

Abu Abdel-Moneim, the father of an opposition rebel, also told Gavlak, “My son came to me two weeks ago asking what I thought the weapons were that he had been asked to carry,” describing them as having a “tube-like structure” while others were like a “huge gas bottle.” The father names the Saudi militant who provided the weapons as Abu Ayesha.

According to Abdel-Moneim, the weapons exploded inside a tunnel, killing 12 rebels.
“More than a dozen rebels interviewed reported that their salaries came from the Saudi government,” writes Gavlak.

If accurate, this story could completely derail the United States’ rush to attack Syria which has been founded on the “undeniable” justification that Assad was behind the chemical weapons attack. Dale Gavlak’s credibility is very impressive. He has been a Middle East correspondent for the Associated Press for two decades and has also worked for National Public Radio (NPR).

The website on which the story originally appeared - Mint Press (which is currently down as a result of huge traffic it is attracting to the article) is a legitimate media organization based in Minnesota. The Minnesota Post did a profile on them last year.

Saudi Arabia’s alleged role in providing rebels, whom they have vehemently backed at every turn, with chemical weapons, is no surprise given the revelations earlier this week that the Saudis threatened Russia with terror attacks at next year’s Winter Olympics in Sochi unless they abandoned support for the Syrian President.

“I can give you a guarantee to protect the Winter Olympics next year. The Chechen groups that threaten the security of the games are controlled by us,” Prince Bandar allegedly told Vladimir Putin, the Telegraph reports.

The Obama administration is set to present its intelligence findings today in an effort prove that Assad’s forces were behind last week’s attack, despite American officials admitting to the New York Times that there is no “smoking gun” that directly links President Assad to the attack.
US intelligence officials also told the Associated Press that the intelligence proving Assad’s culpability is “no slam dunk.”

As we reported earlier this week, intercepted intelligence revealed that the Syrian Defense Ministry was making “panicked” phone calls to Syria’s chemical weapons department demanding answers in the hours after the attack, suggesting that it was not ordered by Assad’s forces.

Miracles on the border: Syrians encounter Jesus

NOTE TO READERS: The deepening crisis created by the civil war in Syria poses a major threat not only to the continued existence of that nation but to the stability of an already chaotic Middle East. This story and the following other stories cover the growing Christian ministry to thousands of Syrian refugees fleeing into neighboring countries.

As Syria disintegrates in war, Christians give refugees hope

Wounded warrior learns power of forgiveness

BEIRUT (BP) -- The Christian relief team heard about the needy Syrian widow living outside a Lebanese Muslim village near the Syrian border. So they took food to her.

Apparently, Jesus had been there first.

A refugee from the civil war in Syria, the Muslim widow, along with her three children, had sought shelter in Lebanon -- like more than 100,000 other Syrians. She was observing a traditional 40-day period of solitude to mourn her dead husband, so she had received nothing from the local Islamic aid society.

When the Christians knocked at her door, the widow appeared fully covered in black, including an opaque veil over her face. She explained her period of self-isolation. They offered to leave the food outside, but she unexpectedly invited them in. They sat with her and her children on the floor of the temporary dwelling.

"Who are you?" she asked anxiously.

"You don't know us, but we have great love in our hearts toward you," the team leader answered, explaining their reasons for helping Syrian refugees. "That love comes from God, who has worked in our lives."

To their amazement, she responded by removing her veil --— unheard of in her conservative Muslim culture. Then the words came flooding out.

"I want to tell you what happened to me yesterday," she said, her voice trembling with emotion. "As I was sleeping during the night, someone knocked on my door. I was so scared, but I opened the window to see who it was. No one was there. After a while, I heard the same knocking. My heart was beating so fast, so I went and sat beside the door, and I fell asleep there.

"As I was sleeping, someone put His hand on my shoulder. He said, 'You don't know Me. You have passed through a great pain. I experienced a great pain, also. But I will not leave you alone. Tomorrow I will send you someone who will tell you about Me. Listen to him.'"

When she finished the story, she began to weep. She turned to the team leader and said, "Tell me about this person that I saw in my dream."

Through his own tears, the leader told her about Jesus Christ, the Messiah, the friend of widows, orphans and outcasts. "This Book that I'm going to give you will explain to you about God's love," he promised, giving her a Bible along with additional aid to help her and her children survive the mourning period.

The widow later returned to Syria. No one knows for sure what has become of her. But God knows.

'Dead or alive?'

Sami*, the Lebanese Christian pastor who told the widow about Jesus, has had similar experiences with other Muslims. He and several Christian partners have been reaching out to Muslim villages in Lebanon with the simple Gospel message. They expanded their outreach to Syrian Muslims when refugees started streaming across the border last year.

"When we started to serve among those villages and communities, I had a doubt in my heart," Sami admits. "Will it work? Are we going to experience what we hear from different parts of the Middle East and the world about Muslims coming to know Jesus as Savior and Lord? It was a challenge, a discovery process for me personally and for many with us in the ministry. But as we have shared the Gospel faithfully, the Lord is showing us signs of people who are opening up, asking questions and opening the door for us to reach a wider community.

"We started a couple of house groups in different areas with Lebanese and Syrian Muslims, and we are discipling those people. Some of them have come to know Christ. Others are discovering who Jesus is. They are showing signs of changing in their lives."

A Muslim community leader the Christians befriended last year helped them gain entrance to the homes of many Muslims -- Lebanese and Syrian. During those visits, he heard the Gospel message of God's offer of salvation through Jesus Christ perhaps 100 times.

At the beginning of one such visit, the Muslim leader walked up to a refugee family, pointed at them and said, "Are you dead or alive?"

The family was taken aback; so were the Christians. He repeated his question: "Are you dead or alive?" Then he pointed at the Christians and declared, "These people have a Book, and it's going to tell you how to find life. You need to read it!"

"This is a Muslim guy who probably has never read the New Testament himself," marvels Christian worker David James*, who participated in the visit. "But he's opening doors for us now because he saw something different in us as he heard the things that we were sharing."

In another village, the relief team made a repeat visit to the home of an influential Syrian Muslim. He knows many other needy families, so they brought a large supply of food for distribution.

"We don't need your boxes of food," the Syrian leader said. "What we need is somebody to come and teach us how to walk in the way of Jesus and how we can forgive one another. We don't know how to live with each other." The Christians were happy to oblige.

'I want to follow Jesus'

Perhaps the boldest new evangelist in Lebanon, however, is an older Syrian woman whose home has become a center for teaching truth.

Sami met Noora* at the end of a long, exhausting day of aid deliveries to refugees. He was ready to go home, but his guide insisted on one more stop to a particularly needy group of families. Reluctantly, he agreed. They distributed food portions and New Testaments along with a simple Gospel presentation.

Noora, one of the Syrian Muslim women in the home, started asking questions about baptism. As it turned out, she already was reading the New Testament. She had plenty of other questions about Jesus: How do you address Him? How does He differ from the other prophets?

"We read Matthew, the first chapters, about Jesus' incarnation and that He is Immanuel," Sami recounts. "Immanuel means 'God with us.'"

"I don't understand," Noora replied.

Sami explained the concept of a king visiting his people disguised in plain clothing and humility, yet remaining in every aspect a king. He told her about Jesus' sinless life compared to the other prophets, all of whom had failed God in various ways, despite their greatness.

"Who do you want to follow -- Jesus or the prophets?" Simi asked.

"I want to follow Jesus," Noora answered.

During another visit Noora suddenly declared, "The message that you shared with me changed my life. I'm a new person." The changes in her life proved her words.

"Once we visited her and she was reading the Old Testament," Sami recalls. "After another week, she was in the New Testament. She told us, 'This is my third time of reading the whole Bible.' After that we continued visiting her, encouraging her and discipling her. She said, 'Everything you tell me, I go and I share it with others. I tell the traditional Christians that worshipping saints is not good; you have to worship God. I'm sharing with the Syrians [Muslims] about how God changed my life.'"

Recently Noora returned to Syria for a visit with family, despite the dangers. When Sami called her to make sure she was OK, she reported: "I have a group of women gathered in my house from Muslim and Christian backgrounds and I'm teaching them.

"It's hard," Noora acknowledged, "but God is helping me."

Francis Fukuyama Blames Europeans for the Failed Integration of Muslims

I've been reading Fukuyama's book "The Origins of Political Order" recently and so far it's been very impressive.

But his analysis in a recent blog post (recapitulating a speech he gave last November) of what's gone wrong with European countries and their Muslim immigrants is deeply naive. He starts off with France.

A lot of people pointed to the riots that occurred in the French banlieues back in 2005 as evidence of an Islamist threat existed in France itself. I think that this is a complete misunderstanding of what happened there. ...What was going on in the French banlieues was very different. These were people that did not reject French identity; they in fact believed in the goals that the French society set for them but they were not allowed to achieve them. They could not get jobs; they were barred by racism from access to opportunities that white French people had and that was the source of their unhappiness.

OK, so French racism is to blame for the failure to integrate Muslims in France. What about Germany?
The German case is very different. German national identity evolved very differently from France. Partly due to the fact that the Germans were scattered all over Central and Eastern Europe, the process of German unification required definition of Germanness in ethnic terms. So legally their citizenship law was based on the legal principle of jus sanguinis. You become a citizen not if you are born on German territory, but rather depending on whether you have a German mother. Up until the year 2000, if you were an ethnic German coming from Russia, you could get citizenship far more easily than if you were a 2nd or 3rd generation Turk that had grown up in Germany, spoke perfect German and did not speak Turkish at all. Germans have changed their practice but the cultural meaning of saying I am German is still very different from the cultural meaning of saying I am French. It has a connotation that is more deeply rooted in blood. This means that when Angela Merkel says that multiculturalism has failed in Germany, I think she is only half right. She would be quite wrong to describe that failure one-sidedly as an unwillingness of Muslim immigrants and their children to want to integrate into German society. Part of the failure of integration comes from the side of the German society as well.

OK, so the German inclusion of ancestry as an element in the definition of their national identity (which the multicult would no doubt describe as 'racism') explains the failure of Muslim integration in Germany. What about Holland?
In Holland, national identity has always been defined by the pillarization (verzuilung)of Dutch society, its division into protestant, catholic and socialist pillars. The Dutch are famously tolerant but it’s a strange kind of tolerance. They tolerate people as long as they do things over there but not in my community. In a certain sense, it was a natural thing for Muslims to start arriving in the Netherlands and to create their own pillars, since that’s the way the Dutch themselves were organized. This lead to the emergence so-called “black” schools, in which you have only Muslim students with no opportunities to interact with native Dutch people. I think this has been one of the important obstacles in promoting faster and greater immigrant integration into Dutch society.

Hmm, so Dutch support for community "pillars" is to blame for the failure of Muslim integration there? OK, let's move on to Britain.
The failure of immigrant assimilation has in certain ways been the greatest in Britain – the European country that went for multiculturalism the most whole-heartedly. This was based on a mistaken interpretation of multiculturalism. In Britain there was a belief that pluralism meant you have to respect the autonomy of individual immigrant communities. The government had no role in actively trying to integrate them into a broader British culture. I had a colleague Robert Leiken who wrote a book called Europe’s Angry Muslims, that will be published in the United States very shortly, which gives some fascinating statistics in terms of the number of members of minority groups recruited into extremist organizations. In terms of the number of attempted violent acts by members of this community on a per capita basis he notes that Britain has the highest rate by far – much higher than in France, Holland, or Germany. The reason for that was that the British approach to multiculturalism that simply left radical imams to preach in their local communities without any interference from the authorities and without any effort by the state to actively use the education system to produce people that have allegiance to the British state. Again, the British have changed these policies in the last few years in the light of the subway bombings and other terrorist acts. But there is still a very problematic relationship between that country and its immigrant communities.

OK, so in Britain it's the laissez-faire approach to national identity that's to blame. The government should have intervened to suppress all the crazy preachers and brainwashed the Muslims into feeling British.

There's a pattern to his analysis; and the pattern is that Europeans are always to blame. This is basically just another application of the "European guilt" ideology that dominates our age. He goes through a list of European countries where Muslim immigrants and causing problems and then contrives a reason to blame the Europeans for the failure.

Altough he notes the diversity of the integration approaches that have been tried, there are two significant factors he does not mention. One is that non-Muslim third-world immigrants have not caused anything like the same degree of problems. Another is that the Muslims causing these problems are enormously diverse themselves: Turks in Germany, North Africans in France, Indian sub-continent Muslims in Britain.

The only reasonable conclusion a person who has not absorbed the ideology of European guilt could draw from the set of circumstances described is that the source of the problem lies with the Muslims, not the Europeans; and since the only thing these diverse Muslims have in common is Islam, the problem must lie very specifically in the ideology of Islam itself. Even if you knew nothing about Islam, you could reach that conclusion based on simple logic alone.

What does Fukuyama think about Hindu immigration polices in Europe and elsewhere? Or Shintoist immigration policies? Buddhist or Zoroastrian immigration policies? Of course he's probably never even thought in those terms. There's never been a reason for him to. And that right there points out the source of the problem.

Malmö police to learn 'polite' Arabic

(Source)

So far 45 officers have signed up for voluntary twelve-week class, which will provide training on a number of common greetings and pleasantries in Arabic, the local Skånska Dagbladet newspaper reports.

“It's about dealing with immigrants in a more dignified and little more civil manner,” local police chief Bengt Hersler told the newspaper.

According to Hersler, the course was arranged at the request of officers who have pushed the department to provide them with the tools to better communicate with Rosengård's residents, many of whom are immigrants and have Swedish as a second language.

In addition to teachings in basic Arabic, the tailor-made course will also offer lessons on Muslim culture and traditions to help officers better understand some of the cultural differences that can lead to misunderstandings in dealings with local residents.

“We're looking to broaden our knowledge, Said Hersler.

“Ever time we speak, we express ourselves from within our own culture. Even if you speak the same language, there's no guarantee that people understand each other.”

The tailor-made course, arranged by studieförbundet Vuxenskolan, will be held during participants' free time and will focus on phrases that officers would likely be able to use in their everyday work.

“They obviously aren't going to learn the whole language,” Lena Gustafsson from Studieförbundet Vuxenskolan told the newspaper.

While no follow up course is currently planned, Hersler told the newspaper that, if the Arabic language and culture class proves successful, a follow-on may be arranged.
