Nigeria: Machete-Wielding Muslims Hack Six Christians to Death

Source

More religious cleansing of Christians from their homelands.

JOS, Nigeria (AP) Authorities say machete-wielding attackers have killed six people in two attacks on Christian villages in central Nigeria.

The attacks occurred Sunday night south of Jos with attackers armed with machetes and firearms targeting two Christian villages.

Violence between Christians and Muslims has claimed more than 500 lives over the last year in Jos and surrounding areas.

Officials say the raid was in retaliation for a New Year’s Eve attack on a van full of Muslims returning from a wedding that left at least eight people dead.

Courts Destroy Separation Between Church and State and Rule Against Christians

The 9th Circus: No breach of the "separation of church and state" if a government body involves itself in a religious matter and gives official support to an anti-Christian belief system
"When various religious groups sponsored an advertising campaign offering “healing for homosexuals”, the San Francisco board of supervisors sprang into action. It sent a letter to the groups “denounc[ing] your hateful rhetoric” and alleging a “direct correlation” between that rhetoric and the “horrible crimes committed against gays and lesbians,” including the brutal murder of Matthew Shepard.

It also adopted two formal resolutions. One called for the “Religious Right to take accountability for the impact of their long-standing rhetoric, which leads to a climate of mistrust and discrimination that can open the door to horrible crimes such as” a recent murder.

The second resolution stated that the groups’ ad campaign encouraged maltreatment of homosexuals and urged local television stations not to broadcast the groups’ ads.

In American Family Association v. City and County of San Francisco, a divided panel of the Ninth Circuit rules that the city government’s actions did not violate modern Establishment Clause doctrine.

But as Judge John T. Noonan observes in dissent: “To assert that a group’s religious message and religious categorization of conduct are responsible for murder is to attack the group’s religion.…

Here the city had a plausible, indeed laudable purpose, to decrease vicious violence on account of sexual orientation. [But it] used a means that officially stigmatized a religious belief as productive of murderous consequences.”

Are you straight or gay? Police and nurses to be asked their sexuality in new equality drive

Source

Plans: Lib Dem Lynne Featherstone says all public staff should be sent a questionnaire about their sexuality

Plans: Lib Dem Lynne Featherstone says all public staff should be sent a questionnaire about their sexuality

Millions of teachers, nurses and policemen could be asked to disclose their sexuality, religion and race as part of a new Coalition equality drive.

Lib Dem equalities minister Lynne Featherstone says all public sector organisations should consider sending ‘diversity monitoring forms’ to staff to prove they are treating all sections of society fairly.

From April, public bodies will be subject to the Equality Act – passed by Labour but taken up enthusiastically by the Coalition – which will force them to consider the impact of everything they do on the diversity of the people they serve or employ.

Miss Featherstone supports sending staff a questionnaire about their sexuality and even whether they have had a sex change.

Her plans are suggested in a guide to how public bodies should comply with the Act. Critics fear it will lead to an avalanche of bureaucracy and expense just as jobs are under threat and budgets are slashed.

One example given in the document is banning police from imposing height restrictions because they may be discriminatory to women.

It also says that complying with the equality duty ‘may involve treating some people better than others, as far as this is allowed by discrimination law’.

EU Sends Diaries to School Students: Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish, Chinese Holidays All Listed — Christian Holidays Omitted

Source

European Union: “What is this Christianity you speak of?”

(Daily Mail) — The European Union has sent millions of diaries to schools which list the dates of Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Chinese festivals — but omit any mention of Christian celebrations.

In an extraordinary move, three million 2011 notebooks were printed at a cost of £4.4million to the taxpayer. Around 350,000 of the diaries have already been shipped to schools in the UK alone.

There is no record for Christmas, Easter or Lent — despite bureaucrats carefully listing the EU’s self-styled ‘Europe Day’ on May 9.

The EU-manufactured school diaries record Muslim, Hindu, Sikh, Jewish and Chinese religious festivals as well as the EU’s self-styled “Europe Day” on May 9. But no mention of Christmas.

The EU was forced to apologise in the wake of the blunder as religious groups expressed their disbelief. John Dalli, consumer commissioner said: ‘We regret this’ and apologised. While the apology is general, there has been a specific, grovelling apology sent to the French government and to the French Catholic Bishop Conferences which had complained directly to Brussels.

European Catholic Commission spokeswoman Johanna Touzel described the mistakes ‘just incredible.’

Police Officer Who Opened Fire on Christian Train Passengers Checked For Crosses Before Shooting Them

Of course this nothing to do with Islam.

EGYPT- Authorities have captured the man responsible for killing one Egyptian Christian and injuring five others on a northbound train in Upper Egypt, security sources said on Tuesday evening.

An unidentified gunman entered the train while it was stationed at the southern city of Samalout in the Minya governorate, some 260 km south of Cairo.

Security sources said the assailant had checked passengers for the green cross traditionally tatooed on the wrists of Coptic Christians in Egypt. After identifying several Copts, the culprit killed one of them and injured five others.

The same sources said that investigators are currently looking into the possibility that the assailant was a policeman, but this remains unconfirmed until present.

Nina Totenberg: "I Was -- Forgive the Expression -- At a Christmas Party"

Source—Ace

She actually felt the need to literally apologize for using this foul expression.

Does anyone think that Nina Totenberg, or anyone in the media or government or academy, would ever say, "I was -- forgive the expression -- at a gay wedding"? No, of course not; they would never give that such a slight, classifying it as an actual vulgarity.

But Christmas? To Nina Totenberg and the alien creatures who have, V-like, infiltrated and captured our key institutions, the word "Christmas" is now on par with a lower-grade racial slur.

The media continues insisting that there is no "War on Christmas," and that the whole idea is a paranoid confabulation of the right to gin up our anger and also gin up fundraising for conservative groups.

Doesn't Nina Totenberg's statement put lie to that spin? Doesn't that reveal that among the self-selecting Culture Leader Class, even the most inoffensive (and secularized) demonstration of de minimus Christian celebration of faith is now an actual social faux pas bordering on insult?

There is no other faith in America suffering from such obvious semi-official discrimination from institutions as the Christian one. Okay, admittedly: Satanists are officially held in the same low regard. But they, you know, worship Satan.

Meanwhile, in England, which is a mere twenty years further down this lunatic road than we, the Red Cross has canceled any sort of overt references to Christmas during the Christmas season. No Nativity scenes, not even Christmas trees, which really don't have anything in particular to do with Christ. It's not as if people have Christmas crucifixes in their homes.

Christmas has been banned by the Red Cross from its 430 fund-raising shops.

Staff have been ordered to take down decorations and to remove any other signs of the Christian festival because they could offend Moslems.

The charity's politically-correct move triggered an avalanche of criticism and mockery last night - from Christians and Moslems.

Christine Banks, a volunteer at a Red Cross shop in New Romney, Kent, said: 'We put up a nativity scene in the window and were told to take it out. It seems we can't have anything that means Christmas. We're allowed to have some tinsel but that's it.

'When we send cards they have to say season's greetings or best wishes. They must not be linked directly to Christmas.

'When we asked we were told it is because we must not upset Moslems.'

Mrs Banks added: ' We have been instructed that we can't say anything about Christmas and we certainly can't have a Christmas tree.

' I think the policy is offensive to Moslems as well as to us. No reasonable person can object to Christians celebrating Christmas. But we are not supposed to show any sign of Christianity at all.'

But there is no War on Christmas, nor any escalating semi-official discrimination against the Christian faith. It's all in your imaginations, Wingnuts.

That Red Cross Christmas Story... is, alas, an evergreen -- the story is actually from 2002 but it winds up being currently dated when you access it in the archives. A lot of people took it to be new; I was one of them. (Someone sent it to me as new, too.)

The Red Cross sorta denies the story in this recent (three day old) statement, but winds up confirming it. They explain that they haven't banned Christmas -- what nonsense! -- bu of course they avoid Nativities and such to avoid offending those easily offended.

New Belgian archbishop faces legal threats over AIDS remarks

BRUSSELS, December 10, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – The new archbishop of Brussels, Andre-Joseph Leonard, is being targeted by homosexualist groups, and has been condemned by the country’s prime minister, after he said that AIDS is a consequence of risky sexual behavior, including homosexual sexual activity.

Homosexualist groups have accused Archbishop Leonard of “homophobia,” after he pointed out in a book released in October that “AIDS at the beginning multiplied through sexual behaviour with all sorts of partners or else through anal rather than vaginal sexual rapports.”

“When you mistreat the environment it ends up mistreating us in turn,” he continued. “And when you mistreat human love, perhaps it winds up taking vengeance.”

“All I’m saying is that sometimes there are consequences linked to our actions. I believe this is a totally decent, honourable and respectable stance.”

A lawyer acting on behalf of a homosexualist lobby group has filed a formal complaint against Leonard for “homophobic statements” and “violating an anti-discrimination law.”

Yves Leterme, Belgium’s nominally Catholic prime minister, is among those who have condemned Leonard in the ensuing furor. Recently a man ran up to the archbishop during a service at the Brussels cathedral and shoved a cherry pie in his face, apparently in connection with the controversy.

Following the massive media uproar over the bishop’s comments, the archdiocese published a letter on November 5, in which Leonard clarified that he had never intended to say that homosexuals themselves were “abnormal” and denied that he had implied that AIDS was a divine or human punishment. He compared active homosexuals with people who continue to smoke despite seeing clear health warnings on cigarette packages

He reiterated his belief that AIDS “could possibly be considered … a sort of intrinsic justice,” but he stressed that he meant that the emergence of AIDS was a natural consequence of “risky sexual behavior.”

On homosexuality, Archbishop Leonard said, “There is in the homosexual tendency and practice an orientation that is not coherent with the objective logic of sexuality.”

The fallout from the archbishop’s comments has included the abrupt resignation of his media spokesman, Juergen Mettepenningen, who described the bishop as a “loose cannon” in a press statement. He told an interviewer that Belgian Catholics need to be “encouraged,” right now: “If they see that their leader is only busy trying to convince people about topics like AIDS and homosexuality, then people aren’t receiving the respect they want from the archbishop.”

Leonard’s fellow bishops are also distancing themselves from him, with some actively searching for their own spokesman to represent their views separately, a practice that had been discontinued under Cardinal Danneels, the New York Times reports.

A group of academics at the notoriously liberal Catholic University of Louvain are circulating a petition calling for Leonard’s resignation from his post as the university’s chancellor, saying his remarks had brought “shame on the university.”

In addition to his orthodox Catholic views on sexual morality, Archbishop Leonard is well known for his defense of human life before birth. He was a speaker at the first ever March for Life in Brussels http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/archive/ldn/2010/mar/10032404 this year.

It is widely recognized that Leonard was chosen by Pope Benedict XVI as the new head of the Belgian Catholic Church, during a period of crisis, because of his forthright adherence to Catholic orthodoxy. He has been charged by the pope with the task of cleaning up the ultra-liberal Belgian Church, which http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/belgian-bishops-ignored-parents-on-grossly-sexually-explicit-catholic-catec has been hit hard by homosexual abuse scandals.

Leonard is well known to be the most “traditional” Catholic bishop in Belgium, with 35 of Belgium’s 71 current seminarians coming from his former diocese of Namur.

Leonard took office amid a scandal that broke out on the retirement of his predecessor Cardinal Godfried Danneels who is still being investigated http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/cardinal-danneels-questioned-today-in-connection-with-abuse-cover-ups by civil authorities for his involvement in the cover-up of decades of homosexual abuse by a colleague, the former bishop of Bruges, Roger Vangheluwe. Danneel’s was considered one of Europe’s leading “liberals” in the episcopate, and he had openly supported the goals of the homosexualist movement.

Public Homosexual Acts Protected in Britain

Source

Among the many charming aspects of homosexual subculture is the practice of "dogging" — i.e., indulging in perverted sex acts with total strangers in public so as to disgust and horrify anyone who isn't profoundly sick. Like most things pernicious, this revolting activity is now officially protected by our liberal elite rulers. Once again England leads the way toward a glorious liberal utopia:

A new Hate Crime Guidance Manual has been handed to officers warning them that they must not ignore doggers being abused or verbally taunted in any way — as it can cause them to suffer from post traumatic stress. …
It states that doggers can be 'reluctant to report victimisation in outdoor sex environments' and says this is 'due to a misconception that the police will primarily be interested in why they were there, as opposed to tackling hate or prejudice motivated crime.
It goes on to say that hate crime can have a 'lasting impact on individual victims', adding that 'crime targeted at an individual's core identity also has the potential to undermine entire communities and damage community confidence in the police'.

"Verbal abuse" of homosexuals performing acts of depravity in public parks while children and grandmothers gasp in astonishment clearly will not be tolerated in morbidly tolerant Britain. As for the acts themselves, which are still technically illegal:

In 2008, the then deputy chief constable of Lancashire Police Michael Cunningham — now the chief constable of Staffordshire Police — issued guidance cautioning officers against 'knee-jerk' reactions when dealing with doggers and saying they should only be prosecuted as a 'last resort'.

A "last resort" would probably be if they won't stop spreading AIDS even long enough for the officer to move along.

The most recent changes were made to the 'Managing Public Sex Environments' policy last month, and top brass say the policy has been 'completely re-written' following consultation with relevant groups and 'new Association of Chief Police Officer guidance'.

That is, homosexual activists dictated the new policy.

At this rate, it won't be long until Britons welcome sharia as the lesser evil.

Homosexual Bullying

Source

We're told that the purpose of Obama's perverted Safe School Czar is to prevent homosexual bullying in schools. An example of this appalling phenomenon has finally come to light:

A Michigan high school student who was recently kicked out of class for saying he doesn't support homosexuality is getting legal support as he finds himself at the center of a national firestorm and the target of homosexual activists.
Sixteen-year-old Daniel Glowacki has retained the Thomas More Law Center (TMLC) for help concerning an October 20 incident at Howell High School, when he came to the defense of another student who was told by his economics teacher, Jay McDowell, to remove a Confederate flag belt buckle. (See earlier story)
TMLC attorney Robert Muise tells OneNewsNow the teacher was wearing a T-shirt to highlight the alleged "bullying" of homosexuals, so Glowacki exposed his hypocrisy.
"Then the teacher said, 'Don't you accept the homosexual lifestyle?' And Daniel said, 'No, I'm a Catholic; I don't.' And the teacher got very angry at him; he ordered him out of the classroom," Muise reports. "He was shouting at him, [making] comments to the effect that… 'if you're a Catholic, you ought to be in a Catholic school and not this public school.'"

What does he need TMLC for? No doubt Kevin Jennings will get right on this.

Nurse can’t sue hospital that forced her to assist abortion

Photo via lifesitenews.co

On November 23 the Second Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that a Catholic nurse who was forced by a New York hospital to participate in an abortion does not have the right to sue her employer, reports John Jalsevac, LifeSiteNews.com.

Administrators at Mt. Sinai Hospital had threatened Catherine DeCarlo with disciplinary measures in May 2009 if she did not honor a last-minute summons to assist in a scheduled late-term abortion. The hospital insisted on her participation in the procedure on the grounds that it was an “emergency.”

Lawyers for DeCarlo, however, have pointed out that the procedure was not classified by the hospital as an emergency, and the patient was apparently not in crisis at the time of the surgery.

DeCarlo claims that her participation in the abortion led to serious emotional trauma. She also claims that hospital administrators later attempted to coerce her into signing an agreement to participate in abortions in the future.

The hospital had reportedly known of the Catholic nurse’s religious objections to abortion since 2004.

Alliance Defence Fund (ADF) attorneys had filed two suits in the case – one federal, filed in July 2009, and another state, filed earlier this year. The federal suit claimed that Mt. Sinai ignored federal laws prohibiting coercion while receiving hundred of millions of dollars in federal funding.

In January the case was dismissed by the United States District Court for the Eastern District of New York, at which point it was appealed to the Second Circuit.

However, in today’s ruling the court found that there is no right to private action or private remedy under the statue cited by DeCarlo in her suit – the so-called “Church Amendment.”

That amendment protects health care workers working for federally-funded entities from being discriminated against because they refused to perform abortions on religious or conscience grounds.

In May Americans United for Life (AUL) had filed an amicus brief in support of DeCarlo on behalf of the National Association of Prolife Nurses, the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Physicians for Life, Christian Medical & Dental Associations, and the Catholic Medical Association. According to AUL staffer Mailee Smith the groups represent over 19,000 health care professionals.

Neda Soltani, symbol of the Iranian protests, was a Christian

neda-kreuz.jpg

This is the poor young woman who was shot dead by Iranian security forces, and whose bleeding face became an image of the brutality and humanity of the mullahs. Now it turns out the Neda Soltani was a Christian -- a telling indication that the analysts who dismissed the protesters as simply wanting more Sharia, or better Sharia, or Sharia with a different face, were wrong: it just wasn't that simple.

It is also telling that the cross around her neck was cropped out when this photo circulated around the world.

Jihad Watch reader Andrea informs me that while "many had mourned her thinking she was a Muslim. According to some German press reports, it turns out she instead was a Christian:"

Europe Marches on to the Criminalization of Christianity

By Hilary White

ROME, June 30, 2010 (LifeSiteNews.com) – When a European Christian pro-family group applied to join the Fundamental Rights Platform (FRP) of the EU’s Human Rights Agency, they did not expect to be denounced as promoters of “hate.”

The European Union Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) objected to a statement by the Alliance of Romania’s Families (ARF) calling same-sex “marriage” an example of “human degeneration,” and denied their request for membership.

The ARF, a group lobbying to retain Romania’s traditional Christian social and legal underpinnings, had written on their website that, “So-called alternatives such as ‘families’ consisting of same-sex, are nothing but expressions of human degeneration.” The FRA responded, saying, “The qualification of other people’s sexual orientation as human degeneration is not an acceptable basis for creating a structured and fruitful dialogue.”

In a letter to the ARF’s president, Peter Costea, the agency called this “a fundamental rights perception that is incompatible with the participation in the FRP.” The agency also explained that their position was based upon the belief that ARF's views amount to "hate speech."

Costea responded to the FRA, saying that the rejection was “ideological and political.” He defended his organization, saying that members “believe in human rights and dignity for all, in diversity and mutual respect.”

“We believe in civilized dialogue and robust debate on issues of wide social impact and importance. Nevertheless, we need to point out, respectfully yet unambiguously, our view that your decision to deny ARF membership … is discriminatory and improper.”

“To us it evinces an attempt to weed out organisations that express, based on their freedom of expression and religion, views that are different from those officially espoused by the Agency.”

In 2009 the Fundamental Rights Agency invited all “stakeholding” nongovernmental organizations from EU countries to submit applications for membership in the Platform. The purpose of the platform, the agency says, is to engage in a “structured dialogue with civil society,” to ensure that the EU and national governments respect the fundamental rights of all persons.

While turning down the ARF, the Fundamental Rights Agency accepted the application of the British Humanist Association (BHA), one of Britain's most outspokenly anti-Christian lobby groups that works for the removal of all signs of Christianity from public life in Britain.

The BHA features a who’s who list of Britain’s most hostile anti-Christians, including atheist Richard Dawkins and its current president, radical feminist journalist Polly Toynbee. The group is best known recently for its “atheist bus” campaigns and its political work to disestablish the Church of England, to abolish daily worship in schools and to “reform” religious education to exclude religious belief.

Unprecedented: Egyptian Government Suppresses Christian Doctrine

Print Send RSS

Translations of this item:

It is not enough that the Egyptian government facilitates persecution of the Copts, Egypt's indigenous Christian minority. Now the government is interfering directly with the church's autonomy concerning doctrine. According to the Assyrian International News Agency:

The head of the Coptic Church in Egypt has rejected a court ruling that orders the church to allow divorced Copts to remarry in the church. In a press conference held on Tuesday June 8, Pope Shenouda [III], reading from the statement issued by the Holy Synod's 91 Bishops, including himself, said: "The Coptic Church respects the law, but does not accept rulings which are against the Bible and against its religious freedom which is guaranteed by the Constitution." He went on to say "the recent ruling is not acceptable to our conscience, and we cannot implement it." He also said that marriage is a holy sacrament of a purely religious nature and not merely an "administrative act."

Though little reported in the West, this issue is rapidly boiling over. There is even talk that, if he does not submit to the court's ruling, the pope will (once again) be imprisoned. What is behind such unprecedented governmental interference with the Coptic Church's autonomy?

Reading Egypt's national newspaper, Al Ahram, one gets the impression that, by trying to make divorce and remarriage easier for Copts, the Egyptian government is attempting to "liberalize" Coptic society—only to be challenged by an antiquated pope not open to "reform." It quotes one Copt saying that the "Pope's limiting divorce and remarriage to cases of adultery is unfair. It is against human nature." Even the manager of the Centre for Egyptian Women's Legal Assistance claims that his position "exposes Pope Shenouda's desire to impose his will over the Christian community" (a curious statement, considering that some 10,000 Copts recently demonstrated in support of the pope, and that the Catholic and Orthodox churches—which guide some 1.5 billion Christians—hold similar views on divorce and remarriage).

At any rate, lest the reader truly think that the Egyptian government is becoming more "liberal," there are a few important facts to remember:

First, according to the Second Article of the Egyptian Constitution, Sharia law—one of, if not the most draconian law codes to survive the Medieval period—is "the principal source of legislation." This means that any number of measures contrary to basic human rights are either explicitly or implicitly supported by the Egyptian government, including polygamy, the obstruction of churches, and institutionalized discrimination against non-Muslims and females in general. Put differently, Sharia law can be liberal—but only to male Muslims, who (speaking of marriage and divorce) can have up to four wives, and divorce them by simply uttering "I divorce you" thrice (even via "text messaging").

Moreover, the Egyptian government—again, in accordance to Sharia law—prevents Muslims from converting to Christianity. Mohammad Hegazy, for instance, tried formally to change his religion from Muslim to Christian on his I.D. card—yes, in Egypt, people are Gestapo-like categorized by their religion—only to be denied by the Egyptian court. (Many other such anecdotes abound). In other words, while the Egyptian government portrays itself as "modernizing" the church's "archaic" position on divorce and remarriage, it—the government, not Al Azhar, nor some radical sheikhs, nor yet the Muslim mob—prevents (including by imprisonment and torture) Muslims from converting to Christianity.

As for those who accuse Pope Shenouda of behaving no better than "closed-minded" radicals, consider: he is not forcing a law on individual Copts; he is simply saying that, in accordance to the Bible (e.g., Matt 5:32), and except in certain justifiable circumstances (e.g., adultery) Copts cannot remarry in the church: "Let whoever wants to remarry to do it away from us. There are many ways and churches to marry in. Whoever wants to remain within the church has to abide by its laws."

If this still sounds a tad "non-pluralistic," know that at least Copts have a way out: quit the church. No such way out for Muslims: Sharia law—Egypt's "primal source of legislation"—mandates death for Muslims who wish to quit Islam.

Nor has the inherent hypocrisy of the government's position been missed by Egyptians: "The Pope evaded answering a question presented by a reporter in the press conference on whether the court would dare order Al Azhar [Egypt's highest Islamic authority] to agree to a Muslim marrying a fifth wife and not only four, comparing it to the interference of the Court in the Bible teachings through its recent ruling." A good question, indeed.

Finally, the grandest oddity of this situation is the fact that, for all its inhumane practices, Sharia law does, in fact, permit dhimmis to govern their communities according to their own creeds, a fact not missed by the pope himself, who "pointed to Islamic Law, which allows religious minorities to follow their own rules and customs."

In short, the Egyptian government is behaving even more intolerantly than its medieval Muslim predecessors who, while openly oppressive of Christians, at least allowed the latter to govern their own, personal affairs according to Christian doctrine. As Pope Shenouda declared at the emergency Holy Synod, "the ruling must be reconsidered, otherwise this will mean that the Copts are suffering and that they are religiously oppressed."

Indeed, when Copts are violently persecuted by Muslims, the government claims that it cannot control the actions of a minority of "extremists." However, now that the Egyptian government is personally tampering with the church's ability to live according to Christian doctrine, what more proof is needed that it seeks to subvert Coptic society and is therefore an enabler of Coptic persecution?

Indonesian Islamic supremacists persecute Christians: "we are doing this because we want to strike fear in the hearts of Christians"

Original

And that's a Qur'anic imperative: "Against them make ready your strength to the utmost of your power, including steeds of war, to strike terror into (the hearts of) the enemies of Allah and your enemies..." (8:60)

"Radical Muslims threaten to kill Christian man in Bekasi," from Asia News, July 3 (thanks to C. Cantoni):

Jakarta (AsiaNews/Agencies) - Christians continue to endure persecution in the city of Bekasi, 25 kilometres from Jakarta. Today a banner was hung in front of a mosque with a picture of a Christian man with a noose around his neck and the words: "This man deserves the death penalty!"

The man is Andreas Sanau, 29, accused along with Henry Sutanto by the Islamic Defender Front (FPI) of organising mass baptisms. The FPI is a radical Islamic group known for his violence against religious minorities, especially Christians.

For years, Islamic extremists have targeted Bekasi Christians, accusing the latter of trying to "Christianise" the city. In the first months of 2010, radical Islamic groups have interrupted Christian religious services, prevented Christians from entering their churches and blocked the building of new churches.

Dhimmis "are forbidden to build new churches" ('Umdat al-Salik, O11.5(7))

Charges against Sanau and Sutanto are the result of an initiative by the Mahanaim Foundation, a Christian organisation that helps the poor. Last Wednesday, 14 buses full of people met at the residence of the foundation's president, Henry Sutanto. For Murhali Barda, the local FPI leader, Sutanto "must be killed; he wants a mass baptism."

Foundation spokeswoman Marya Irawan said that the busloads of people were villagers who had come as part of an outreach programme in favour of the poor. The Foundation has no intention of baptising anyone.

Meanwhile things are getting worse, especially after the local FPI decided to set up a paramilitary organisation ahead of an expected struggle with Christians. More than 1,500 volunteers are training.

According to Murhali Barda, "we are doing this because we want to strike fear in the hearts of Christians who behave in such a way. If they refuse to stop what they're doing, we're ready to fight."

Fr Andreas Yewangoe, secretary of the Communion of Indonesian Churches, said that the militia will only create fear, nervousness and unrest in the nation. "The government must protect all citizens from anarchist action as mandated by the constitution." So far, the government has done nothing.

Political analyst Arbi Sanit said that the authorities are afraid of taking step that might be interpreted as anti-Islam. For them, "Being popular is more important [. . .] than punishing those who are clearly breaking the law," Sanit said.

Seniors Not Allowed to Pray Before Meals at Nursing Home

Posted by Jim Hoft

This is unbelievable… Now they won’t allow our seniors to pray before meals.
When did America become a communist regime?

(Flickr)
Senior citizens are no longer allowed to pray before meals at the Port Wentworth’s Ed Young Senior Citizens Center near Savannah, Georgia. Local officials say the meals are now provided with federal money and therefore the seniors are not allowed to pray before meals.
WSBTV reported:

Preston Blackwelder proudly showed off a painting of his grandmother that had hung next to the front door of his Port Wentworth home.

She was the woman who led him to God, Blackwelder said Friday.

And with that firm religious footing, Blackwelder said it would be preposterous to stop praying before meals at Port Wentworth’s Ed Young Senior Citizens Center near Savannah because of a federal guideline.

“She would say pray anyway,” Blackwelder said of his grandmother. “She’d say don’t listen.”

But Senior Citizens Inc. officials said Friday the meals they are contracted by the city to provide to Ed Young visitors are mostly covered with federal money, which ushers in the burden of separating church and state.

On Thursday, the usual open prayer before meals at the center was traded in for a moment of silence.

The dilemma is being hashed out by the Port Wentworth city attorney, said Mayor Glenn “Pig” Jones.

Tim Rutherford, Senior Citizens Inc. vice president, said some of his staff recently visited the center and noticed people praying shortly before lunch was served. Rutherford said his company provides meals like baked chicken, steak tips and rice and salads at a cost of about $6 a plate. Seniors taking the meals pay 55 cents and federal money foots the rest of the bill, Rutherford said.

“We can’t scoff at their rules,” he said of federal authorities. “It’s a part of the operational guidelines.”
